Glad they were in the position to help their neighbors.

But I am still waiting for somebody to have a camera and get swept up and have the footage to show us.

Yeah, not too bright, but I'm glad they did.

Interesting how the trees and leaves were pulled towards the tornado.

I remember that awful day well CavVet. I think there were something like dozens & dozens of tornados in the SW Ohio area that day. It was an F5 I believe that wiped out Xenia. My dad and I tried to get to his brothers house who lives on the outskirts of town & the po po turned us around on HWY 35. My uncle and his family ended up being fine .... alot of other people weren't

I remember Xenia. I worked for the phone company in downtown Dayton and when leaving work at 5 looked southeast of town and I had never seen such a black looking sky as I did that day, and have not seen anything like it since. My boss lived in Xenia and had her roof torn off. About 20 years after that I was living in Beavercreek and the house we were living was on the path that the 74 tornado took. We had another tornado go over and hit Xenia again, but not like in 74. We had a big hill behind our plat and because of that it lifted and passed over our house. From talking to neighbors the same thing happened in 74.

Were you living there in 74 or know someone there?

Wow, that site got me curious so I searched for more. Look at this photo, weird how it touched down right where the residential area began.

Tornadoes fascinate me, guess cuz I've pretty much always lived in Tornado Alley so they've always been a part of life.
