Many of you know I did my time in jail, too, thankfully and by the grace of God never a felony. Anyway, this kid I know, Brady, was heading down the wrong road. I tried to tell him, "Man, square your ass away or you will be just like me and have to deal with a lot of unpleasent shit in your life. Use my bad example of what NOT to do."

Nope. Dumbass was like me, and just didn't think shit stinks until he got his nose rubbed in it.

He was under house arrest, and the stupid son of a bitch cut his bracelet off. His mom called the police to report where he was, which is exactly what he needs to get off the fucking drugs and pull his head out of his ass. I was the one that had him arrested the first time.

He called me yesterday, all but blubbering, telling me how sorry he was he never listened to me and wound up in jail. He's facing 3 felonies and a skew of drug charges, so he ain't getting out any time soon - especially since one of the charges is felony ESCAPE cause he cut the bracelet. How fucking stupid can you get?

I mean, the dumbass was here, living in my house, knowing how much shit I went through to right my wrongs. He knows, down to the dollar, how much it cost me. How much time and effort. How many tears I cried and nighmares I woke from. How many times one tiny glitch in the system had the police here with a warrant for my arrest. That I lost my driver's license. The way the kids looked at me, and all the pressures it put on me and Camy. And for 7 years I have been fixing all that - in 5 weeks I am done, 100%. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, I'll never be going back because I had the backbone to do what was needed to change who I was.

I rubbed it in, too. Many would call me a dick, but I'm telling you, that place either changes you like I changed, or it makes you worse. I care abot this kid (he's 23 actually) like a brother. I mades ure he understood we'd be BBQing, fishing, and drinking a cold beer while he sat there wondering why he'd been so stupid.

Say a prayer for him if you would, y'all. That place will either beat him down or beat him up, and I can only pray he gets out and changes, rather than getting the "jail mentality" and going back. I'm going to his arraignment tomorrow, so I'll update as far as the charges, but with what I know, he's looking at several years at least.

Sorry to hear about your buddy - but, like you said, hopefully this will be HIS wake-up call.

Fingers crossed for him.

I have a pretty good friend that over time, eventually worked himself up to getting 45 days in county. That's what it took for him. Since then, steady job, wife and now a child.

Some people just need a little louder wakeup call than others.

Sometimes there is nothing you can do. You have to just let reality beats his ass til it sinks in. Be there for him but let him know it's time to "man" up or be a punk the rest of his life. At least you tried to be there for him, I hope he understands that.

And yeah, I was a hellraiser when I was younger but I grew up also.

Obviously he is still a kid in mindset if not in age. Hopefully this will force him to grow up. It's his decision. He should have wised up before it got to this point.

Prayers sent.

I agree.
Sometimes you HAVE to walk the road to learn how to get there, Richard.

Here's hoping he remembers every mile.

He got himself into this.

It's all about choices and judgement.

He made a few poor choices using poor judgement.

Sounds like this is exactly what he needs to make him understand the seriousness of his situation.

Not at all, I think that might be what makes him realize that its not a game.

All those times when its lights out, all he has to think about is what his dumb ass did to get him self there.

I spoke to a "friend" that happens to be in LE. When I explained the charges he figured 9 years, 6 suspended. That was right along with what I was thinking: 3 years.

1 count felony escape

1 count felony forgery (Hey, stupid ass, they can tell checks printed on a PC)

1 count felony receiving and trafficking stolen property (a car, no less )

1 count possession of illegal substance with intent to distribute.

He had a $12/hr job, transportation and hotel and food expenses paid. Brand new cell phone and credit cards, and was living here for $300 a month, which included cable, utilities, phone, food, toiletries, etc. Anything less than 3 years now would be a miracle with the escape charge.

WTF? Damn am I glad I don't have to worry about that shit anymore. I hope he is 100% miserable for the time he spends - maybe he'll unfuck himself and learn his lesson.

First one that I know of.

The problem is that he was under house arrest for the forgery. But then they found his name with the stolen car, so they issued another warrant for that. Instead of being a man, he ran and cut his bracelet off. His mom called the cops to tell them where he was and, well, guess what they found at the place he was at?

I have no idea what the drugs were, just that his mom said he'd be facing the charges. I'm trying to find the actual charges right now - I have the court docket, but it makes no sense to me since it doesn't give actual charges, just dates.

So far, this is all I have been able to pull up. Make any sense to anyone here smarter than me? I've never been arressted for a felony, so I haven't a clue. It looks like the courtroom roster for the 0830time slot to me.
