400 AM PST WED MAR 8 2006

...A MAJOR LATE WINTER STORM TAKING AIM AT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA..

A LARGE...COLD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL BE DEVELOPING OVER THE
PACIFIC NORTHWEST THIS WEEKEND. A STRONG POLAR JET STREAM WILL
DEVELOP OVER THE EAST PACIFIC AS THE STORM DEEPENS...SENDING COLD
AND UNSTABLE AIR INTO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BEGINNING ON FRIDAY..
AND CONTINUING THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT.

SHOWERY WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THURSDAY NIGHT OR FRIDAY AS
THE FIRST IN A SERIES OF IMPULSES RACES SOUTHEAST AHEAD OF THE
STORM. PRECIPITATION IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE HEAVY...BUT SNOW LEVELS
COULD FALL AS LOW AS 3500 FEET WITH STRONG WINDS IN THE MOUNTAINS. A
SECOND...STRONGER DISTURBANCE WILL APPROACH THE AREA ON SATURDAY AND
MOVE THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT. THIS COULD BE ACCOMPANIED BY HEAVIER
RAIN AND SNOW...WITH SNOW LEVELS FALLING AS LOW AS 2500 FEET AND
STRONG WINDS IN THE MOUNTAINS. THE PRECIPITATION SHOULD LINGER INTO
SUNDAY AS COLD...MOIST...AND UNSTABLE AIR CONTINUES TO FLOW IN FROM
THE WEST.

CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE THAT SIGNIFICANT SNOWS WILL FALL IN AREA
MOUNTAINS OVER THE WEEKEND. PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG AND
GUSTY WINDS MAY CREATE BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES. THE COMBINATION
OF COLD...SNOW...AND WIND COULD BE DEADLY FOR UNPREPARED HIKERS OR
CAMPERS IN REMOTE AREAS. TRAVEL IN THE MOUNTAINS WILL LIKELY BECOME
EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS AS WELL. IF THE STORM DEVELOPS AS FORECAST..
THERE COULD BE PERIODS OF SNOW IN THE HIGHER INLAND VALLEYS..
FOOTHILLS...AND HIGH DESERTS...INCLUDING THE CAJON PASS. FOR THE
COASTAL AREAS...NUMEROUS SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED WITH CHILLY DAYS. SOME
OF THE SHOWERS COULD PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY DOWNPOURS OF RAIN AND
SMALL HAIL OR ICE PELLETS.

PRELIMINARY ESTIMATES ARE FOR ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN TO FALL OVER
THE COAST AND VALLEYS WITH LOCALLY GREATER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE ON THE
MOUNTAIN FOOTHILLS. LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN ON RECENTLY BURNED AREAS
COULD CAUSE MUD AND DEBRIS FLOWS AND LOCAL FLASH FLOODING. ABOVE
3000 FEET...MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION WILL FALL AS SNOW.

IF THE STORM CONTINUES TO DEVELOP AS FORECAST...FURTHER STATEMENTS
AND WEATHER WATCHES WILL LIKELY BE ISSUED OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL
DAYS. ANYONE PLANNING TRAVEL OVER SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA THIS
WEEKEND...ESPECIALLY THOSE HEADING TO THE MOUNTAINS...SHOULD
STAY TUNED TO THE LATEST FORECASTS ON NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR YOUR
FAVORITE TV OR RADIO STATION.

Even the weather report sounds fruity in Kali. It's either rain or rain & thunderstorms. Tell me this, does the Kali. NWS NOAA weather report robot speak with a lisp?

HUGE STORM TO SLAM INTO KALIFORNIA
Um... who really cares??

While we're at it, can mother nature slam in to New York??

How about Wisconsin and Illinois??

I've got a grocery list of shit holes to bring nature's fury to - where do I submit my request?

For the past 3 days or so, it has been pretty nice here in L.A., highs in the low 70s, and at least for calm winds at my house.  I've been in some areas where there was 20-25MPH winds.

We've been through a few 6.0 earthquakes, conflagrations, and the OJ & Micheal Jackson trials, this should be easy.

The weather here is definatly changing. Last year, in San Jose, we had a lot (and I mean a lot!) of rain. Way more than usual. This year is shaping up to be the same thing except it seems colder this year as well.

I'm in the so-cal mountains and we're ready for it, plenty of candles, lamp oil, firewood, all in case the power goes out. Plenty of food, fresh, canned, and dried. The kids have their snow toys ready and I have my binoculars ready to watch all the flatlanders do squirrely things in thier soccer-mom-mobiles as they come up to play in the "white shit". *shrugs* BTDT before.

It Never Rains In Southern California

ALBERT HAMMOND

Got on board a westbound 747
Didn't think before deciding what to do
Ooh, that talk of opportunities
TV breaks and movies
Rang true
Sure rang true

Seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California
But girl don't they warn ya
It pours, man it pours

Out of work, I'm out of my head
Out of self respect, I'm out of bread
I'm underloved, I'm underfed, I wanna go home
It never rains in California
But girl don't they warn ya
It pours, man it pours

[Instrumental Interlude]

Will you tell the folks back home I nearly made it
Had offers but didn't know which one to take
Please don't tell 'em how you found me
Don't tell 'em how you found me
Gimme a break, give me a break

Seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California
But girl don't they warn ya
It pours, man it pours
