Let's say you are out of town visiting friends when a natural disaster strikes. Whole neighborhoods are obliterated, such as after a hurricane or large tornado. The destruction is vast (just like after Katrina) and there is literally no infrastructure left to rely on for help. You don't even know the entire scope of the damage, but your buddy's radio is informing you of roving bands of thugs looting and killing homeowners.

Your buddy offers you a choice of three brands of AR15s. All are identical 20" A2s.

Of the following, which do you decide to put your trust in:

Colt
Armalite
Bushmaster

Well?

You guessed it, poll coming.

I have never had a problem or seen a problem with Colt or Bushmaster, so I wouldn't feel underarmed with either of them 2, I have never shot or seen an Armalite AR shot before

OK fine

Id choose the Colt, but when it comes down to it I trust my homebuilt guns the best. Its not gonna be the Colt assembly line workers butt thats gonna be on the line, its gonna be mine. So I want to know that it was put together right.

I won't trust any firearm with my life unless it has had zero malfunctions for several thousand rounds.

AR stands for Armalite who sold the rights to... COLT.  And I have trusted my life to a Colt, and will only trust a Colt.  Colt Kool-Aid is good for the soul.

I have a Sig and a 1911, I would take the 1911 if only because it is SAO with a safety.  I carry my Sig concealed now, but not after I get my new holster.

I believe trident means Sig 226, that is the official issue pistol of the SEALs.  In addition to others.

Do they make an AR15 type rifle that is available to the general public in this country?

Not knocking HK, as I have some of their pistols, just was not aware that they made a rifle that fits the question as asked in the body of the original post on this thread.

Colt

Had a RRA--sold it. Nice rifle, minor problem, nothing to get worked up about.
Have a Bushy--couple of minor problems initially that Bushmaster took care of.  Gaskey came loos. That could be bad. Fixed it myself. Like the rifle but not as much as my Colts and I trust them more.

I have quite a few non Colt lowers that I built up. Everything else on ALL of them is Colt. Stocks, uppers, lower parts kits, etc.
If I had another, the first thing I would do is buy a spare Colt bolt for it. My 2 cents.

I got an A2 upper during the ban and put it on an LMT lower. Just shot it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Talk about a tack driver. Holy shit. Standing, offhand I was practically drilling the same hole at 100m.
I was doing pretty good with my evilized MAK 90 today, doing the same though. Surprised me. Maybe I am just getting to be a better shot in my old age.

I did build a smoking hot LMT M4 for my son. RAS, Magpul Stock. Kicks ass and shoots great.  Colt bolt/assembly in it.
Also helped my daughters boyfriend build one of the same. We had a little bit of a party the night the AWban died.

I'll take Bushmaster, as long as it's been test fired, as any manufacturer can make a mistake. Both my Bushmasters(14.5 and 20") have functioned perfectly, the 14.5" has had 9000 rounds through it in the past 3-4 years, and the 20" has had around 3000 rounds in the past 2. Never had a mechanical problem. Also a friend has a 11.5" Bushy with a RDIAS and functions fine.

I'm not saying Bushmaster is any better(or worse) than any top tier manufacturer, but Ive had more experience with Bushmasters, and I feel more comfortable with them. Ive shot ARs from all the top tier manufacturers and never seen a major flaw in any, at least none that couldn't be fixed with a minor parts swap.
