In exchange for permission to buy this beauty, I had to promise my wife I would tell EVERYONE how wonderful she is for understanding my 'habit' and allowing me to get a 'fix' every now and then.

Question: What are the best 'flip up' sights or should I just go with the Armalite carry handle/front post mounts and switch out with optics when I want?

Sorry for the size...

I got one of those in green.... my wife still doesn't understand (or know).

I run a scope but would like to try an optical or red dot sights. I cannot decide whick optics I like more... I have the same problem  with a current .223 project. Cant decide on optics!

Anybody with pictures of optics...

I bought the AR10A4 Carbine, only because it was the only AR10 available locally.  I lost the the upper and bought a new A2 upper for it.  I fired about 100 rounds through it and wasn't to impressed.  I guess the magazines had alot to do with that.  Then went out and bought a L1A1 and love it.

Not sure if you meant that for the gun or the sights...  I paid $1369.99 plus tax and NICS.  Armalite had it listed for $1389 so I guess it was a fair deal.

You lucky man, I feel your pain! My dear sweet, loving, nurturing, (Help, I need more positive adjectives!)wife paid for a brand spanking new Green AR-10A4 Carbine in time for Father's day 2000. She got and I have used the factory carry handle detachable sights over the last year. It was great as a training stand-in for qual w/ the M-16 this last spring (Expert, again! Thank you , Dear!)
But, it just so happened that (1) I did buy an Armalite 30mm 1 piece scope base from Dan's Den before departing Ft Worth last winter, and (2) I just ordered a Tasco Super Sniper SS10x42-M from SWFA this very afternoon. A whole new world of possibilities is opening before my eyes.
I feel an invigorated sense of appreciation for my wife coming over me! Maybe I should log out right now and go thank her one more time!
