Personnally. I have lived in TX, CA, and LA. Been in WA, NYC, FL, VA. Out of all these places best burger is In and Out Burgers. A double double animal styles is by far the best in this country as far as I am concerned.

Whataburger for fast food.
Burgers on this rig (i work offshore) are pretty damn good. Seasoned with worcestershire sauce and tony chacheres among other things. |
WHITE CASTLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best I've ever had was Steak-n-Shake. Steakburger, fries, vanilla shake.
"The Old Corner", a local place here in my home town.
Once you've had one of theirs, you'll never go back to a chain. www.theoldcorner.com/burgers.html |
Belly Bombers! |
Comparing Steak n' Shake to White Castle is like apples and oranges.
Whiteys are awesome and super-tasty, but Steak n'Shake clearly make a better "burger" If I'm munchy, I'd kill for a White Castle, but if I wanted a good burger, I'd go to S&S |
e) none of the above
The best burgers are made at a privately owned drive-in in my hometown. Fresh chuck, ground daily. Says right on the menu board if you want it cooked well down you have to ask for it. They've been in business for 50+ yrs. So there's plenty of others who agree with me. Plus they have their own onion ring batter receipe and hand dip their own rings. They're usually sold out of rings by 6:00-7:00 at night. |
Out of the choices, I say Steak n Shake
but I agree with newracer - IN AND OUT is the best. ...I just wish I could make my own at home out of ground beef |
I've never had Steak-n-Shake, but the other choices are all unacceptable.
If those were the only choices, I'd skip the burger and get Taco Bell. For fast food burgers, Checkers and Whataburger are okay. |

Behold, the best burger out there.
Speak not of this fast food nonsense. ETA Scope out that menu on the page. Notice the prices and the menu items... Now THAT is a burger joint. |
The best I have had are the green chile cheese burgers fron the Owl Cafe in San Antonio, New Mexico.
Not a chance! For one I work during the day, and two I don't like the beotch. |
As far as chains go, I'm kinda fond of Red Robin. It's not a drive through or anything, but they're pretty good.
No, but I did catch the preview! I had to got to work but I did want to see who GQ magazine said had the best burger ! |
For fast food chain burgers, not much beats an In n Out Double Double animal style. |
Never been to White Castle or Steak n Shake. Burger King is superior to Wendy's . That said some of the Wendy's dollar burgers are better than the BK dollar burgers.
In-and-Out, Tommy's are better burgers but not on the choices. And if you can't get a really good burger at the local greek hamburger joint, and have to settle for a chain, You really lose. The only good things about the big chains is that you know pretty much what you are going to get when traveling. |
Steak-N-Shake rules!!!
BUT.......ours closed last year!! It must have been mismanaged, 'cause the place was always busy and they also had the best breakfast sandwiches in town. |
As far as fast food burgers are, Whatburger is excellent. I've In-and-Out gives them good competition on that front, but I've never eaten at one. There is a restaurant here in town called the Butcher Shop that makes really good burgers, as well as real french fries that I like.

Of Pulp Fiction fame? The palm trees on the cup look familiar... |
Whataburger
but Wendy's and BK come in a close second. I prefer Wendy's for the chickeburgers, and then BK for the Whoppers. |
Fresh Burger King's leave MacD's in the dust over here......... I say "fresh" because the nuked warm ups are vile......
Wendys is ok, but I like Griffs, which may be local to Dallas, and Whataburger.
I really wish there was an In-N-Out around here, because that is the EXACT burger I order there when I can. I have to live with Fat Burger as a close second..... |
Fuddruckers are by far the best I've ever had. sadly there are none in WV. Ruby Tuesdays has awesome burgers also. |
I've been to all of the lower 48. The best fast food chain burgers are
Steak n shake In-n-out Culvers. In no particular order. |
I say Burger King though all of the choices suck. Of all the burgers I have had, Ruby Tuesday's has the best.
