Whataburger for fast food.

Burgers on this rig (i work offshore) are pretty damn good. Seasoned with worcestershire sauce and tony chacheres among other things.

"The Old Corner", a local place here in my home town.

Once you've had one of theirs, you'll never go back to a chain.

Comparing Steak n' Shake to White Castle is like apples and oranges.

Whiteys are awesome and super-tasty, but Steak n'Shake clearly make a better "burger"

If I'm munchy, I'd kill for a White Castle, but if I wanted a good burger, I'd go to S&S

e) none of the above

The best burgers are made at a privately owned drive-in in my hometown. Fresh chuck, ground daily. Says right on the menu board if you want it cooked well down you have to ask for it. They've been in business for 50+ yrs. So there's plenty of others who agree with me.

Plus they have their own onion ring batter receipe and hand dip their own rings. They're usually sold out of rings by 6:00-7:00 at night.

Out of the choices, I say Steak n Shake

but I agree with newracer - IN AND OUT is the best.
...I just wish I could make my own at home out of ground beef

I've never had Steak-n-Shake, but the other choices are all unacceptable.
If those were the only choices, I'd skip the burger and get Taco Bell.
For fast food burgers, Checkers and Whataburger are okay.

Personnally. I have lived in TX, CA, and LA. Been in WA, NYC, FL, VA. Out of all these places best burger is In and Out Burgers. A double double animal styles is by far the best in this country as far as I am concerned.

For fast food chain burgers, not much beats an In n Out Double Double animal style.

Never been to White Castle or Steak n Shake.  Burger King is superior to Wendy's .  That said some of the Wendy's dollar burgers are better than the BK dollar burgers.

In-and-Out, Tommy's are better burgers but not on the choices.

And if you can't get a really good burger at the local greek hamburger joint, and have to settle for a chain, You really lose.

The only good things about the big chains is that you know pretty much what you are going to get when traveling.

Steak-N-Shake rules!!!

BUT.......ours closed last year!!

It must have been mismanaged, 'cause the place was always busy and they also had the best breakfast sandwiches in town.

As far as fast food burgers are, Whatburger is excellent.  I've In-and-Out gives them good competition on that front, but I've never eaten at one.  There is a restaurant here in town called the Butcher Shop that makes really good burgers, as well as real french fries that I like.

Whataburger

but Wendy's and BK come in a close second.

I prefer Wendy's for the chickeburgers, and then BK for the Whoppers.
