9mm training ammo

bought some from sportsman guide last week. 1000 rounds for 40.00. bright blue plastic shoots a plastic bb.

kinda fun stuff. doesn't cycle a semi but out of my carbine it'll be a mean cat chaser. very fun stuff to shoot.

I saw that. I use the .22 Colibri - the slow stuff- on feral cats out of a single shot Tru Valu junker. No damage, but it sends them packing. A follow up would be good sometimes. How do you think they would work in a HI Power? 40-50 feet max?

Have you shot any yet? How loud? How bad does the plastic foul the brl?

i'd rate it about 2/3rds as loud as a normal round so yes it's loud. they claim accuracy equal to nato spec ammo at 50' i am betting that is without wind. didn't have a chance to really shoot any for accuracy. will try it soon. i will say that plastic bb is haulin ass when it goes bang.

If this is the stuff with the metal BB in the tip you might want to be carefull. I recall it can screw up barrels.

shot about 50 or so rounds today through my cz75. here are some pics. the flat rounds were shot onto steel, the semi intact ones on paper with a corrugated plastic background.

as for accuracy. i paced off about 20 feet and off hand was maintaing about a 3"group. i do about the same with regular ammo. at 25 yards it was a different story. accuracy went to min of barn REAL quick. not surprising consider how light this stuff is. 100 rounds in the shipping box was under 6.5 lbs.

i have to admit this is some fun stuff to shoot. zero recoil <no surprise> yet enough bang to make you think you shot something. i figure it will be REALLLLLLLLY good to use with new shooters to get them used to the noise with no recoil, and REALLLLLLLY good for failure drills. almost same noise level but no slide movement to induce a jam.

can't state that as i don't know it's intent. that said, i ain't taking one for the team or suggesting anyone do either. i honestly think this would likely shatter cheap safety glasses. at the very least it would hurt like hell it if didn't pentrate the skin a good bit. This stuff is NOT a toy.

T_B_S, please understand, I am not crapping on your thread but, since it appears (from other threads) you are versed in the use / proficiency of small arms, what is the reason for these trainers? Perhaps just playing around?

I help a fair number of ladies learn to shoot and 99.9% are scared to death of the noise and the recoil. this would be a great way and fun way to introduce them to i before turning them loose with a live round imho.

other than that i have an armadillo problem that this might be fun to try out on. kinda like airsoft on super steroids
