I am glad the majority of people who live in the Middle East like and support the US and what we are doing in the world, and that it is only a small percentage that poison their childrens minds against the western world.

Freedom of expression needs to be moderated when it offends cultural sensibilities.

As an aside, the television news stated that they were let out of school for the day to protest and burn our flag.

Pakistani Kids Rally Over Prophet Cartoons

KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) -- About 5,000 children chanting "Hang those who insulted the prophet" rallied in Pakistan's largest city on Tuesday in the latest protest in the Islamic nation against the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

The children, ages 8 to 12, burned a coffin draped in U.S., Israeli and Danish flags at a traffic intersection in the port city of Karachi as police in riot gear looked on.

The rally was organized by Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan's largest Islamic group. The children, some wearing school uniforms and headbands emblazoned with "God is great," were released from schools to take part.

Jamaat-e-Islami is part of a radical coalition of six Islamic parties that has rallied Muslims throughout Pakistan in recent weeks against the cartoons despite bans on protests in some cities.

Opposition lawmaker Liaqat Baluch, deputy secretary-general of the coalition, on Tuesday welcomed the European Union's first statement on the controversy.

EU foreign ministers said Monday they regretted the cartoons were "considered offensive" by Muslims around the world after first appearing in a Danish newspaper in September.

But Baluch demanded an apology from Denmark, saying it "has not so far acknowledged its mistake."

Baluch also said a "line should be drawn" between freedom of expression - the justification newspapers gave for reproducing the drawings, which Muslims consider blasphemous - and actions that offend cultural sensitivities.

"A freedom of expression that destroys world peace is against basic human rights," he said.

The religious coalition has been leading protests against the cartoons, drawing thousands of people to the streets of the conservative Islamic nation. At least five people died in two Pakistani cities when recent protests turned violent.

Baluch said the EU must take steps to ensure that another controversy such as the cartoon dispute doesn't occur in the future.

"This is a good step forward, but it is incomplete," Baluch said of the EU statement.

Islamic tradition bans representations of Muhammad.

These people have a one track mind. I'm starting to think a year from now they'll still be in a frenzy over these stupid cartoons.

And just who will you have moderating speech and to what extent will it be moderated? And how will you get other governments and religions to moderate their speech? How will you get groups like Al-Queda to moderate their speech? How about the Prez of Iran, have you talked with him about moderating his speech?

If speech is moderated then the only ones preaching hate speech against other relegions are the ones now tearing up the mideast in protest of other people's speech. Funny how that works, isn't it?

Statements like the one above are totally absurd, the only way to moderate free speech is to pass a law against it like they have in some Euro countries. Would you have people going to jail in the US for making fun of relegion? You'll have every late night comedian in the country doing their shows from prison.

People need to grow thicker skins and moderate their violent tendencies, passing laws against offending people isn't just a slippery slope, it's an ice covered mountainside.

I am just telling you what the article states.

Children? Nothing new here. We are dealing with a whole civilization of little children.

And WTF does the US or Israel have to do with the cartoons??? That's what pisses me off the most about these protests. We had absolutely nothing to do with it, yet these ignorant savages view it that way.

Hey I have an idea-to show Pakistan how culturally sensitive and forgiving we are, why don't we sell them the operation rights to our western ports?

Yeah, thats the ticket!

The thing that really stinks to high heaven -- is the revered Inman in Denmark that started all this shit, admitted on television he had forged the images in the inflammatory brochure that was passed around the Muslim world.

....and the press keeps droning on about the Danish cartoons....

Bullshit!

...the real story is about this manipulative liar, and the press says nothing.

It was all one big stinking festering lie, and this Inman says he has no regrets about all the deaths and destruction, because (paraphrasing from memory) "It brought the world's attention to the plight of Muslims"

'Muhammad cartoon' proved fake

One of three especially inflammatory but undocumented Muhammad images distributed by a Danish imam as an example of an "anti-Muslim environment" in the European country turns out to be a poorly reproduced copy of a photo taken at a French pig-squealing contest.

The weblog NeanderNews pointed out the image used by Imam Ahmad Abu Laban was a faxed copy of the Aug. 15 photo of Jacques Barrot competing at the annual French Pig-Squealing Championships in Trie-sur-Baise.

Since last week, Muslims throughout the world have engaged in protests and deadly riots in response to 12 cartoons caricaturing Islam's prophet Muhammad published in September by the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten and three much more provocative images that Muslim leaders have been unable to document.

One of those images of mysterious origin, which never were published, is from that photo. Another depicts Muhammad as a pedophile demon and the third has a praying Muslim being raped by a dog.

…..

A profile of Abu Laban Friday night on Danish television documented his close ties to the Egyptian terrorist group Gamaa Islamiya.

….

Walid Phares, senior fellow with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies in Washington, asked in an article published on Counter terrorism blog, "Why did it take five months for what Western media dubbed 'instant reactions to the insult' to materialize?"

…..

But some analysts say they, "see more of a greater agenda: taking advantage of the harm made by the pictures to impose a new political order in that Scandinavian country, and beyond."

Abu Laban seemed to affirm that in the interview with Fox News.

The Muslim cleric told reporter Jonathan Hunt of his demand that Danish leaders "within their abilities and competence and within the concept of dynamism of liberalism to create … a new set of rules. … "

Hunt: So, you want a new set of rules for the way Western Europe lives?

Abu Laban: Yes.

……

The [following] text was endorsed by UN secretary general Kofi Annan, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu of the OIC and Javier Solana of the EU.

‘We fully uphold the right of free speech. But we understand the deep hurt and widespread indignation felt in the Muslim world. We believe freedom of the press entails responsibility and discretion, and should respect the beliefs and tenets of all religions,’ they said.

…..

I repeat --- Bullshit! Pigshit!

Abu Laban should be on a slow boat to Gitmo.

Like they need a good reason for burning the flag of the "small and big Satan". Hell, you even got blamed for causing the tsunami that hit Indonesia on 26/12/2004.

Yeah - regular Danes are furious about this.

We allowed the assholes to immigrate to our country (one of the best places in the world to live), gave them EVERYTHING - free education, free housing and transportation if needed, extensive social welfare, free job training, religious freedom - and THAT is how they repay us?

The good thing is that the blatant illustration of how some of these assholes are actively working to harm and undermine Denmark has forced a lot of moderate muslims to distance themselves, and to come out on the side of Danish values and democracy.

So in some ways, there has been some good of this, because these traitors (literally) have shown themselves for what they are, and a lot of "good" muslims are standing up and being counted with civilized and reasonable people.

I'm just telling it like it is. Hell, the democrap party does the same thing in Madison, WI to get homeless to the voting booths.

True, but at least so far the democrap party isn't raising little Jihadist's to rise up and destroy the West......

If these people sure get this uppity about some silly little cartoons.

I wonder how they would feel about a porn movie starring Mohammed himself? It could be about a muj and 72 virgins. Half of the virgins are guys. Where does it say the virgins have to be female?
