At the range yesterday the wifes AR had a new problem I hadn't seen before.

When 20 round USGI mags (2 different mags had problem) were loaded with 10 rounds (top round on right side) and the bolt was released from bolt-hold-open, the round wouldn't feed.  I t wouls move a little forward and hang.

The round would get 2 scratches in the bullet about 90 degrees from each other.  It looks like the round isn't popping out of the mag properly and is hanging on the feed ramp.

I was just hoping someone had seen this before and knew a simple fix.  I'll give her a good cleaning and maybe polish the feed ramps a bit.

Thanks!

Have to agree with Waldo. Adjust the lips with pliers and reset bullet angle.  [sniper]

Bolt is locked back on locking lugs...definately.

I looked at the angle of the round in the mag...seemed to affect this failure a bit to have the round angled up instead of flat against feed lip.  Is this what you mean Waldo?

Also, the problem goes away as the mag empties...if it was weak springs, wouldn't it get worse as the spring expands?

Thanks! and keep em coming!
