Hey guys,

Don't want to go into too much detail, but was involved in a hit and run tonight.  Bastard pretty much totaled my fiance's car.  I had stepped away from the car to call a towtruck.  Caught him less than 100 yards from the accident limping down the highway in his busted ride.  Paint scraps match up perfect, silver on mine and maroon on his.  Stopped him and he denied everything.

Police took limited info but because I didn't witness the crash, they said that all I had was a theory and would file an incident report.  Basically told me I was SOL...

SOMEONE PLEASE IM ME WITH INFO ON THIS GUY...

Silver 4 door Nissan Frontier
LICENSE PLATE # 7MB-D49

Will update when have more to go on.  Will also post pics of the car and damage when I get some sleep.

ETA: THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS!  UPDATES TO FOLLOW

I know how you feel.  In my recollection I was involved in only one accident.  In 1998 a (of all things) a Salvation Army truck backed into the Ford Tempo my family had owned for only two days.  Scary.

Yes the Tempo made it out okay.  Just a crumple in the hood and a broken headlight.  Yeah it "buffed out"

Hopefully your car will "buff out" tag for pix.

Your fiancee's car and his car should have each other's paint on them and matching damage.  Investigators could make a match, but I'm sure they won't bother expending any effort they don't have to.  Your insurance company might be able to do something if they're motivated enough to go after the guy for the money.

ETA: You already saw the paint marks.  I missed that.  If you can get his car impounded before he gets it repaired, you're definitely not SOL.  Even photos would help.

i'd say that there's a 99% chance he was an illegal.

i've heard several police officers down here express their displeasure with the illegal population because of their hit and runs and lack of insurance.

one guy said that in almost every hit and run he dealt with, the guy at fault was a hispanic male that's approximately 5'10, and in the cases where he gets out of his vehicle, he speaks no english.  it's a huge problem down here...  i've had quite a few close calls with illegals, but i'm lucky enough to have not gotten hit*knocks on wood*.

Learned something new here in CA about HIT N' RUNs... it is NOT a felony UNLESS one of the parties involved are injured.. The injury can be as minor as a scratch on a leg. Once an injury is reported "BOOM!" that be a felony.

Can any LEO's confirm this? This was on the local news so I take the news with a grain of salt.

This might be the same in Texas.

In Florida, you can go to the county building and run tags.   In Florida, if a L.E.O. gives you the info on a tag, he/she can loose their job.  Sorry.

UPDATE:

thanks to a fellow member, was able to get info on the idiot.  Drove out to his residency this morning before work hoping to get a pic of his truck with some of my red paint on it.  No luck, he probably had it locked up in the garage.  My father-in-law was with me and he decided that he wanted to talk with the guy, maybe see if we could just let insurance settle this before we get the courts/police involved.

Dude took one look at me when he opened the door and slammed it shut.  "You can talk to my lawyer!" is pretty much all he would say.   Oh well, fixing to sic the insurance company on him...

Anyway, here's some pics of my fiance's car.

Now, here's the asshole's tail light assembly he left sitting 2 feet from wrecked car.  There's also what apprears to be a part that holds up the spare tire under the bed, considering that he slide up backwards onto my fiance's car, it makes sense that it came loose.

Tail Light at scene:

Here's a pic of type of truck and tail light of Nissan Frontier 2002, funny how they look the same...

Have a few more pics of the car on my camera phone but having trouble uploading them...

I would go to the police station and demand that they investigate the fucker before he can get his rig into a body shop. If they won't help, call the local TV stations and tell them that the police will not follow up on a crime. Scream bloody fucking murder!

Honestly, I'm pretty much done with the Dallas police.  Last year when my car was broken into you could clearly see the thief's finger prints on the glass.  The police wouldn't even come out to lift the prints, I told them fine, I will bring the car to you guys.  Was basically told that a stolen car radio didn't warrant lifting prints off of a car...

So I was pretty satisfied that they at least filed a report on the hit and run

Sounds typical.  Who are YOU to play detective???  I don't see Officer EPOCH96 anywhere do I?  Now this isn't typical of all police, but this sounded like they don't want you playing detective.  Hope everything works out for the best, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Is there any injury to your fiancee? If so, some of these may apply:

www.deadlyroads.com/laws/texas-hit-and-run-laws.shtml

It's not a felony unless there is serious bodily injury or death, but you can certainly threaten him with a felony.

Good luck, hope everyone is okay.

If your fiance was in that car, she had better go get checked out by her family physician tomorrow. Injuries can wait for days, weeks, or even months before the symptoms manifest. If your fiance is NOT a licensed, practicing, internal medicine specialist then she has NO BUSINESS WHATSOEVER making a decision that she is "OK" without seeking a thorough check-up.

(In Oklahoma, if she goes to the doctor, this has just become an INJURY ACCIDENT and Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident is a felony and charges will be filed on the Shit-For-Brains who hit her.)

do you copy?

Not a problem, no one was in the car.  Brother-in-Law had taken my fiance to his house.  I was down the road waiting for the towtruck to show up.  The more I think about it, I wish I would have been in the car because then I could hammer his ass to the wall.

Well, then again, I probably would have had my head buried under the hood and never heard him coming until it was too late.  Scary to think that I might have been crushed to

Time to make some noise at DPD.  Write a letter & cc everyone up to and including the mayor.  If they can kick the everlovin' shit out of a drunk rollergirl they can sure as fuck investigate a hit and run.  Call TV stations like someone else said, get SOME kind of investigation going before the asswipe gets the car fixed.....

eta-At least you know where the MF lives.  Time to visit his 'hood regularly...not stalking just observing  any movement of the car or maybe just finding out where it really is.  Maybe a few inquiries about him to neighbors being careful not to slander his good name of course.

I had a similar experience in Livonia Michigan (A suburb of Mogadishu....err....I mean Detroit....) I was turning out of Media Play to go to Dunhams to see about picking up another M-44, I'm stopped at the end of the edge of the parking lot waiting for traffic to clear before I pull out, theirs only one car coming, she's at least 50-100 yards back she's got her Right hand turn signal on, and she's slowing down, theirs nothing else on this side of the street except the Media Play, I figure she's planning on turning into the parking lot, but I sit and watch for a few seconds just to make sure, and sure enough she continues to slow down, and comes to a near complete stop right at the entrance to the parking lot where I am so I figured "OK she's turning in", so I pull out, and right when I do she SLAMS on her gas, I speed up to try to get away, and she nails me right in the rear tire, so I pull to the side, and get out, and look at the damage thankfully it appeared the tire had absorbed the bulk of the impact, and I only see a small dent, and my hub cap is smashed, I turn to look for the other car it's at least 50-100 yards down the road coming my way (this was at least 30 seconds at least after I parked got out of the car, and checked the damage so she must have hauled ass down the road, or considered running to have taken that long to get back there....), it parks and this black lady gets out, I check her dame, she has none just some of my paint scraped off on her bumper, I just want to leave, and the damage looks superficial so I say if she just pays $20 to replace the hubcap we could just be done with it, she immediately cops an attitude, and starts acting like it was my fault, so I calmly walk back to the car get my cell phone, and call the cops, and the Black Bitch FLIPS OUT, starts yelling and screaming, calls her husband on her phone, and announced that she was doing so clearly meaning it as a threat wanting me to get off the phone with the police, I didn't, I wait and a few minutes later the cops show up, and have us move off the road, and into the parking lot (Across the street from Media Play where I was attempting to go in the first place....), and while I was doing this I get my first indication that the damage may not be superficial after all the car is pulling HARD to the Left I have to turn my wheel full to the Right just to make a slow Right turn into the parking lot, I park get out, and look under the car, my rear axle is bent.... So Now I'm PISSED I talk to the cop, and he goes and talks to the Bitch, at this point the Bitches Husband conveniently shows up, and takes charge carefully wording the Bitches story (remember he was not there when she hit me....), the Bitch claims that she was turning at the intersection which was at least 200 yards past the parking lot where I was, so according to her she puts her turn signal, and comes to a near stop in preparation for her turn at least a good 300 yards (maybe closer to 400+, it was at least a good quarter mile or more though....) from her turn, she's very vocal, and insists that she's right, the cop comes back AND TELLS ME THEIRS NOTHING HE CAN DO, WTF!!!!, I tell him about the damage to my axle, and Barney Phife goes back to the Bitch, now Officer Phife's Buddies arrive, I think one was his supervisor, and they tell me the same thing, there all apparently taking her BS story over mine, and actually tell me "WE DIDN'T SEE IT SO WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING", WTF?, I THOUGHT THAT WAS THERE JOB!!!!, they REFUSED TO EVEN TAKE A REPORT!!!!, when I asked them to (more than once to....) they just threatened me that if they did they would give ME a ticket, SHE DRIVES RECKLESSLY, AND HITS ME, AND THEY WANT TO GIVE ME A TICKET!!!!, so they just give me her information, and never took the report, she drove off in her undamaged car, and I was left with a broken rear axle, dented body panel, and smashed hub cap!!!!, she had something going for her that I didn't though she was black (and extremely loud, vocal, obnoxious, and acting like an indignant victim, you know the routine....), had her husband there who was equally black (and equally loud, and obnoxious....), and I was white, and behaving myself....

Total damage to my car about $550, and I have no fault insurgence so it was all out of pocket, I looked up the information the police gave me online....Complete Bull shit, Fake Name, Fake Address, Fake Phone Number, and even FAKE DRIVERS LICENSE NUMBER!!!!, so I must assume that either this crash was deliberate, and she was trying to run some sort of scam, and was thrown off when I called the cops, which would explain why she flipped out when I called the cops, or she does this on a routine basis....

Based on my experience, make sure your girlfriend was in the car, and make sure she was injured in some way.  This will ensure that the insurance company does something.  And talk to a personal injury lawyer.
