Back in the day when muscle cars were still relatively common and cheap, LOTS of people did the same thing the first time they jumped on the gas.
One guy I know of had just bought an absolutely mint all original `69 Boss 302 Mustang and paid what was at the time a whole bunch of money for it (this was around 1980). The seller trailered it to his house and not an hour later the new owner went sideways burning rubber out of his driveway on his first attempted drive. He failed to counter-steer correctly and ran the car up his own front bank and flipped it right there in front of his own house.
Most people learn to slide a car in the rain or snow or on dirt and they usually don't realize how much faster things happen when instead it's sticky tires, dry pavement, and lots of power.
FWIW, the Boss owner shelled out the bucks to have the Stang repaired. You'd never know it had been rolled.
