Is it just artifact or are those occasional tail lights on the far left hand side of the video? Man, there is no way I could just pass a cop wrestling on the ground with a perp. I would at least offer to stand in front of the camera and block the view

Question regarding legal police tactics -

why didn't the cop air out the bad guy's noodle the instant that the bad guy pulled the gun?

he was allowed to, right?

also, must the cop roll around on the ground? can he sap an unarmed guy?

seems like a lot is riding on the cop's fighting skills.

this one turned out OK but it seems like the cop almost got himself killed.

not being critical, just curious.

Sure. Hard to say why he didnt. Make he thought he could do a take away on the suspect. Maybe he has a strong moral objection to taking a life. Maybe he's been run tyhrough the ringer before following a shooting. Only the trooper knows why he didnt shoot earlier. But he would have been justified.

Something to keep in mind is that in any of these situations there is always a gun. The one worn openly on the officers hip. If it turns into a grappling match then the officer is definately justified in using as much force as he needs to to prevent to suspect from gaining control of his weapon.

Yep. Fortunately training is getting better. When I went through the academy they still taught Judo & Boxing. Now its Ground & Pound with elbow strikes & chokes.
