i.e. cynical, no longer expecting the best of people.
And if so, what finally did you in? |
Yes I am jaded. What did me in - the human race. |
People just annoy me so frequently that its just easier to be a little jaded.
I'm an apathetic realist.
I know how things are, I just don't care. |
Totally. People did it, and they keep the jaded status in full effect.
ETA: On a deeper level, it is probly from the "idealism" or notion of what/how things are supposed to be which contrasts so badly with the way things and people really are that is causing my jadedness. If noone ever pretended like there was something called civilized then i`d just shrug my shoulders i suppose. Man is just not far enough removed from the jungle yet. Some put on a good show though, A for effort. |
im sure alot of it has to do with being in the military, but women haven't been much help either.
well at 17-0 things don't look good for a group 'kumbaya' singalong.

I try to believe in the inherent goodness of people. Sometimes, it's rather difficult.
fuk you, fuk yer crak smokin' beatch and the horse ya rode in on!!!
jaded? you fuckin' -A- right! spend a decade doing workers' comp law and you'll find about 10% of the people are truly injured, the rest are a bunch of lying mutha-fukers out to get a fast-cash-payday. Damn.... I'm so f'ing sick of the liars, cheaters, and scammers. Insurance fraud.... "such an ugly word".... On a brighter side....... |
That is a whole other relm of crazy, i was just keeping it earth bound.. |
Firemen who watch garages burn.
j/k I still believe most people are good and normally do the right thing. I am jaded enough to know that some people are bad and they should be [insert punishment to fit crime here] |
Sadly, yes.
First it was a divorce. Then I got viscously backstabbed by someone I loved and who claimed she loved me. That REALLY did it. I have honestly lost all faith in the human race. The only people I trust now are proven friends and my children. Sad. Very sad.... The next woman I fall in love with will be the one that can convince me that I'm being wrong about all this, and that life is worth living. Good luck. |
Angst, Jaded, Nuts, Insane. Yeah, I have been called that. I am not sure I always agree with it, but that is another matter.
What "did me in?" I would rather say, what made me a realist. I got up close and personal with life, and it sucked. In reality, there are very few people that are dependable, and there are very few people who actually do their job. 90% of people don't give a flying fuck about anybody but themselves, and possibly, their kids. |
Most people would call me jaded, I say I'm a realist.
What did me in? Being a supervisor at an airline. I had the chance to see the wonders of both sides, passengers and employees. No matter which side it comes from, it's all about "me" and the world owes me something. I'm still as nice as I can be to everyone I come into contact with, but I do not expect the same in return... Gus |
I remember this saying from the '60s.
"If you're not a liberal when you're 20, you don't have a heart. If you're not a conservative when you're 30, you don't have a brain." I'm long past 30. |
Even the nicest of people tend to be assholes, but, I don't think I am jaded. I believe in people. I trust people. I expect them to be the best they can be, at it. What finally did me in? Never being disappointed.
I agree with you gus, I am still nice to people, but I don't expect much. When they prove themselves, I am pleasantly surprised. |
I understand that there are a lot of people out there who are just rude, stupid, spiteful, or hateful. They piss me off. But through experience I've decided that they are the vast minority. Most of the people I've met are not like that. I still believe in the human race, and it makes me a generally happy person.
lots of luck with that, i've got that woman, but shes taking time out to make sure we're doin the right thing. its killing me inside. |
The opposite for me: unions, civilian corperations, etc. |
Jaded here..
Dealing with people in the business world for one. Women for second. |
Amen. |

1. In my last professional gig I consistently encountered people trying to take the shortcuts. They thought they could get to the end quicker and more efficiently, of course this was against mine and the companies recommendations. Inevitably the project takes longer and costs more than if they had done it correctly the first time.
2 . Officials at the local and state level just raising hell or trying to stop a project because they didn't like it. 3. Greenies trying to stop projects, tying them up in legal battles time and time again for the same tired reasons. Trying to deny people the ability to make money off of their land, sometimes passed down from grandfathers and grandmothers who sacraficed God knows what to provide for their progeny. 4. Dealing with ungrateful clients who cause you to work 60+ hour weeks as a result of #1 above. |

18yrs in public safety--mostly fire service, been a Paramedic since '92. lost most of my compassion by around mid '94, most of my sense shortly there after.
I am afraid that I have become that dinosaur that I swore that I would NEVER become. |
12 years as a cop...
on my 3rd tour in Iraq right now... a divorce.... but no, I'm not jaded, the glass is still half full! |
If you don't expect much from pepole you won't be disapointed.
Don't give up, there is still time to join us!! |
i think that im actually uber jaded right now, cause im in the process of taking a huge emotional gamble, and im afraid im gonna roll snake eyes
Dealing with the general public will do it for ya'. Too many people with the "do for me" attitude walking around with their hands out.
Yes, very much so.
What did me in? Work and seeing the worst people at their worst moments, as well media and everyday occurances seeing how bad people are on a daily basis. |
Absolutely totally and completely.
I'm not a pessimist -- I'm an optimist with experience. |
if you are not a curmudgeon by 40 you just have not been paying attention |
Look for the best in everyone , but expect the worst .....
you'll never be disappointed |
ARFCOM is what pushed me over the edge. I now think most people are not as smart as I once did, to put it nicely.
Jaded, Yes Why, I hate people, generally speaking, they annoy me, create undue stress or ask dumb questions.....for example see topic starter. |
