You're limited to 140 proof beverages in your carry-on, according to the TSA agent I was in contact with last June when i had the same question.

I just buy a little bottle and chase it with a coke. I hate flying.

Put it in a plastic Coke bottle. Been there MANY times!

Is it flammable? Because you know you can't bring fire on an airplane!

I went to Jamaica last year and brought back 6 liters of alcohol in my carry ons. 5 were in bottles. there was also one bottles worth of broken glass floating around in my very good expensive rum smelling clothes.

Yes, but if you get caught drinking it on the plane, you're in trouble.

so i can bring a liter bottle in my carry on and it will be cool as long as i don't break the seal?
or do i really need to put it in a water bottle?

good whiskey does not belong in plastic

I stopped on the way to the airport and picked up a bottle of good whiskey, and put it in my carry on. Flew to Vegas. Drank most of the whiskey. Put the bottle back in my carry on and flew back home. No problems here.

ETA: We flew Continental, so it was almost a necessity.

The US domestic airlines announce that you may only drink alcohol served by the crew.
Violating the rule can have serious consequences.

Smuggleing it onboard in a Coke bottle is a surefire way to do it.

Coast to coast flights (not first class) it helps ease the pain.

Two stiff rum and Cokes in my carry on....errr...Diet Cokes....
Will git 'er done every time.

My G/F won a bottle of rum in a bingo game when her family went down last year(she's 20) and they(airline/TSA) let them put it on the plane.

Yep.

I sat next to two chicks from Vegas on a connection to Cali.

They were tore up before they even got on the plane.

The flight attendant caught them with thier bottle and scolded them, but,
didn't take it......She did explain how serious it COULD be though.

Last year on my way to the SHOT show I got stranded in Phoenix for 8 hours. During my stay there, I drank 80 bucks worth of beer . When I finally got a flight out of there I was lit. You will have to ask Mrs. Winmag about the trip to Vegas. She was a little bit embarassed by my actions and comments. They will let you on the plane loaded up.
