There is an online database that iTunes uses to identify albums...cant remember the name at the moment.

www.allmusic.com is as close as it gets. Very comprehensive for anything in the last 10 years, and progressively less for older stuff.
Believe it or not, record companies kept pretty horrible records of their products, and with all of the buyouts, bankruptcies and consolidations, much has been lost. -Troy |

Hadn't been through them in a while. Found one on allmusic I wanted, nothing on gracenote.
....... I hear music on the company's music service that can be a pain to track down. The receiver even tells you the song title, but a lot of times these are unsigned bands, they can be really hard to find any info on. ~ |

That's not what SHE told me...  Oh, wait, er...  AllMusic has data from tons of stuff that's never been released on CD, but all of their data is from actual record company releases. GraceNote's database is FULL of people's mix CDs that they felt the need to upload. Probably 1/3 or more of their database is from CDs that aren't official releases. -Troy |
