Why would a fellow manager walk up to me with the following:

"Hey Ryan, check this out!"
"What is it"
::opens hand to show me marijuana leaf::
"Is it real?"
"Yea man, Walter gave it to me, it's pretty, I think I'll keep it in my wallet"
"Go home, have a good afternoon, we will mail your final check to you."

So now I am minus one kitchen manager for the Spring Classic weekend. This is going to be great

in an ideal world someone wouldn't be fired for that, but in this world an action like that displays such blatant stupidity that the person deserves to be fired.

Were you the same guy that had a guy turning his crank at somebody else's desk a couple weeks ago?  What industry is it that attracts all these goofballs?

Sounds to me like the restaurant industry, or foodservice in general!  Bon Apetite!

Yup that's me. I think it is more or less the lack of a requirement for advanced education?

I think his thought process what that because as managers we all go out to have dinner once in a while and he probably figured that the "friendship" we all have as management supercedes our professional interaction.

Ahh hell.  I had a shuttle driver show up drunk for his shift.  We fired him, and he filed unemployment and won his case, because they (State Unemployment office) said we should have administered a breathalizer.

I also had an employee putting his personal business cards in customers' cars.  I had to restrain myself when I told him never to step foot on our property again or I'd file trespass charges.
