RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!
You're sitting here reading this thread on ARFCOM and someone breaks into your house, how long does it take for you to get to your primary home defense weapon and have it ready to go? I just timed myself 9 seconds. |
I can whip my pecker out in about 2.2 seconds does that count?
Well considering that my G17 is in a shoulder holster under my left arm right now, purdy quick.
The firearms are easy to get to since I'm in cleaning mode. It's the ammunition that's more difficult.
Usually they are all in the safe. Too many uneducated neighbor kids hanging around. eta: but on the bright side, I carry around a pointy stick in case of trouble. |
Well, its in a IWB holster, strapped to my waist, so pretty quick.
40 minutes or so... Im screwed.
Edit: So we have this discussion what twice a week? |
Careful you don't ND there buddy. |
Get your ass back to your own forum, and mail me some Mercados salsa. |
13/100 of a sec from draw to first shot....but im not claiming that i can hit anything just plug my own leg |
Gov't Model sitting right next to me. Never know when a horde of zombies will come shambling through.
at home, i'm never more than an arm's reach away.
out here at work...i'd have to go home first. i work offshore. no guns allowed. i do carry a bitchin pocket knife, though |
Sitting on the bar about 1meter away with a round in the chamber....So probably 2-3 secs. and their dead.
~2 minutes. Open gun safe, load up. Zombies coming through the door happends rarely, I'm not worried about intruders.
I have 4 handguns anywhere from 2-4 ft. from me and all are accessable immediately.
HH |
This should be a Poll.
Less than 2 sec for me. "Home invasion" = Bad day for intruder. |
not to mention that killer roundhouse chuck taught you |
I dont have a stop watch available because my watch is in the other room.
That being said, it would take a lot longer to get up and go get my watch than it would to have a loaded gun in my hand. (my carry weapon is sitting within reach) |
just timed myself, the glock was off the table and in my hand in under a second.
running backward through the house with the gun facing the primary threat area it took about 4 seconds to get to the backroom and shuck the 590 out from under the bed. so ya, id say quick enough. the sad part is i practice this, even in the dark. |
Less than 10 seconds for primary.
5-10 minutes to get any long guns and load them. |
.75 seconds to a loaded BHP. Extra mag right alongside. Loaded Kahr MK9 also near that.
2 seconds to a rifle but, admittedly it isn[t loaded. Won't really need it with the above, unless the perp has a babysitter who is behind a barricade or shield somewhere. There'll be time enough since he'll shit himself when I dispatch perp #1. |
about 4 seconds, I always have my trusty model M1911A1 hanging on my door in a tanker holster loaded with 7 rounds of Winchester 230 gr fmj ball ammo.
FRAGO: (most ARFCOM Members are prepared)
Judging from the responses to the above posts I guess the question should be: "If you ran out of ammo in your primary weapon, how quickly could you access your 2nd firearm" SHTF SCENARIO(serious firepower, ammo, etc)??? |
1911 in arms reach on the desk empty holster on my belt, Loaded Ithaca 37 about 7 steps away so maybe 20 seconds max and im well armed.
Glock27 on my hip, I'm 10 feet from my safe, where the fun stuff is..
the 1911 is in the cabinet literally next to me. I'm guessing 1.5 seconds to have it in hand pointing out the door of my computer room.
the nearest long arm is the shotgun under my bed...about 6 seconds (one room) away from where I'm typing. |
Sorry it took me so long to reply. I had to put the gun down to type.
It's about four feet from my right hand.
+ spare mag and light. |
Probably about a minute. Some old rifle I have yet to get identified (or take a pic of) at the other end of the hall in the closet, ammo on the bed next to that.
Once I turn 21 I'll join the ranks of those that can say less than 10 seconds. |
Now THAT took some practice! HH |
+1 is this a BATF preraid question? |
442 in my pocket, but since I'm laying on the couch with my laptop on my chest, the 1911 on the coffee table is probably faster!
Do I have the option of right or left handed?
Left hand about 2/100ths for the 1911 setting next to the key board. Don't ask about off hand shooting, last time I was scored I shot 93-100 off handed. Fot the right hand, 2-3 seconds, time to knock over the beer,(ok now I'm pissed) grab a mag. slam it into the AR and pull the charging handle. Why, do want to find out? |
Glock-17 about 4 seconds.
AK-clone underfolder with 30 round mag about 7 seconds (less if I don't trip over the crap on my floor). |
1911...about 2 seconds.
M4gery....about 3 seconds. Decisions, decisions. |
Right now...directly in front of me!!! While at night in bed... on the left side of the bed under a pillow.
