FRAGO: (most ARFCOM Members are prepared)

Judging from the responses to the above posts I guess the question should be:

"If you ran out of ammo in your primary weapon, how quickly could you access your 2nd firearm" SHTF SCENARIO(serious firepower, ammo, etc)???

If it was a SHTF , I would have one shoulder holster, one on my waist and a rifle within arms reach!!!!

How fast to unholster a 9mm or shoulder the AR next to me?

any given evening, just as tonight the Glock 19 is in my IWB holster and the G17 is ontop

of the desk.  The M-4gery is at arms length away with 30 rds of 109s in it.

Just another normal night.  I seriously doubt I will ever need to use any of them to kill more

than a piece of paper but if they weren't here close I would probably need them.  Isn't that

how it works?

My nearest guns are back home while I'm at college.

Give me about 8 hours to drive home and get them.

Safes open right now, in the next room. I could get in there and load up one in probably 5 seconds, or 3 of them in 20 seconds.

I have a 590-A1 leaning against the wall next to the computer.
This should buy me enough time to get to something else if need be.

If it is just whatever I can get to the soonest would be my Garand which is about 4 feet away from me and a  8-round clip laying on my desk.

Most of the time I can have a pistol in hand within 5 seconds. If I happen to be further from a weapon than this, my house's layout ensures that I will always be able to retreat from the threat to a weapon and a better defensive arrangement (in other words, at no point could a BG come between me and my defense).

Under 1 second to get to my CCW (sitting about 2 feet from my hands)
I have a 22 target pistol about 4 feet away as well.

+1
is this a BATF preraid question?

It took me a nine-count, and I had steel in hand.

ETA: It is interesting to note that the weapon I grabbed in the ensuing simulation panic was my CZ-52. It makes a good home defense gun, owing to its firepower, with the big drawback being the 8-round capacity (In Before The "Hey-Eight-Rounds-Is-Just-Fine" .45 Crowd).

Which one?  Ive got 3 to choose from within arms reach, each with a full mag and empty chamber.  I guess itll take me about 1.5 seconds to decide which to grab, rack slide/bolt, and point at whatever bumps in the night.
