If it is, then I have a serious problem.

2560 rounds of various 7.62x54R milsurp.

I plan on picking up an M44, M38, or M91/30 next week. I just don't want to wait for ammo when it gets here.

I got a fever! And the only prescription - is a Mosin Nagant!

Anyone else do this?

Not at all, call it "prepositioning".

I've been known to jump on an ammo deal or a mag deal without owning the corresponding arm.

Sick?
Could be, but I'll get awfully excited if anyone tries to cure me.

I would love to buy some 7.62x25mm Tins for the CZ-52 I dont have
Link Posted: 2/16/2006 5:30:36 PM EDT
Zhukov did that very same thing. Same caliber even, IIRC. Zhukov is 'sick'. Small hands and smells like cabbage...

I bought a spam can of 7.62x54 cause I got a good deal on it. Someday maybe I'll find a good deal on a gun to go with it.

I saw Winchester Ranger .40 ammo on sale in one of my magazines so I ordered 550 rounds.

The next week I had to go buy a .40 just so I could shoot some of my ammo. Yes, it is a disease,

and it is contagious, and the only known cure is to fill your self prescribed prescription at your

local gun shop. Many have caught the disease and it has taken away many boring and

unfulfilling lives only to be replaced by a future of fun filled hours of pleasure.

A buddy 'o mine gave me FAL mags for Xmas. I don't have one. I'm now obligated to buy an FAL, and I'm always looking for deals on .308.

I bought a Steyr SSG 96 because I got a set of rings for it at a gun show for $20. Made sense to me at the time.
Link Posted: 2/16/2006 6:35:02 PM EDT
I did the same thing.

Bought close to 2K rounds of 7.62*54R for two mosins that were being shipped thinking i would use most of them the first week.

I shot 120 and my arm hurt like hell.

Needless to say, i've got some mosin ammo stocked.

Buddy, I was reloading bullets for a gun I didnt even own at the time.
Link Posted: 2/16/2006 6:36:34 PM EDT
nah I doi it all the time
Link Posted: 2/16/2006 6:39:00 PM EDT
I may very well own more ammo/parts/accessories for guns I don't yet (or no longer) own than the ones I do own..........always be prepared
Link Posted: 2/16/2006 6:40:38 PM EDT
I own a fair amount of ammo for guns I don't own.

That doesn't mean it's not a sickness, just that if it is it's a common one.
Link Posted: 2/16/2006 6:40:48 PM EDT
Not strange at all. I would highly reccomend doing it for hard to find calibers. 10mm, 5.7X28 etc..

I had almost 2500 rounds of 7.62x39 before I ever had a weapon to shoot it. It was just so cheap!

Buy low, sell high is my rule. Take a look at a Shotgun News from 1994 sometime. It will break your heart.

It does.

Paying more than $170\1000 of Xm193 back then was considered a crime.
Price gouging.

I have 250 rounds of 8mm sitting in my closet. I have no 8mm rifle.

I plan to fix this problem on Saturday.

I bet I have close to 250 rounds of linked .50bmg tracer..........why? Because it looks freakin' cool and I can tell everyone that "the one that shoots them there is hidden"

Good to know, guys.

I purchased 1000 rounds of .223 before I purchased my AR. I knew that I was going to have one eventually so I just picked up a case that was cheap.

I have four spam cans of 30-06 and no Garand yet. One enbloc of eight on my desk right now, begging to be shot... but no Garand yet.

I bought several boxes of 5.56x45 for the AR I didn't have yet at the time, and today I bought a brick of .22LR for the 10/22 I don't have yet.

All I can say is that'll last you a long time most likely. You won't have to buy 7.62x54R anytime soon.. And if you do, you're an animal.
