I've been to the AK forum and learned a great deal, but I wanted to widen my responses by going to General.

Need pro's and con's on both MILLED and STAMPED receivers.
I am looking for a quality AK (not to expensive) with a wood stock.

So far this is what I've come up with:
Vector- good stamped receiver & milled
Arsenal- good stamped receiver & milled

All other milled ones seem to be a grand or more.
Please help!

VEPR - outstanding stamped receiver, workmanship, probably the best Kalashnikov available to civilians.

Steer clear of ArmoryUSA

A big thumbs up on Arsenal. Two friends of mine have Arsenal AKs (both stamped one wood and one synthetic) and they're probably the finest AKs I've ever handled. I'd also recommend a Saiga conversion, a true Russian AK.
