I have an ASUS motherboard and Pentium IV processor 1.6gGhz that came with USB1.1 ports attached to the mother board.

Last night I went to CompUSA and got an ADAPTEC 4000 USB2 card with 4 USB ports and installed it in a spare slot in the back of the case. The USB card is running fine and "My Computer" says that the hardware is functioning properly but it won't go into "Standby" mode without the processor fan staying on and going into warp drive. As soon as I take it out of stanby mode the processor fan returns to normal speed.
