If you don't know, it's a Franchi SPAS 12. I've wanted one for quite a while, but I could never find one with the features I wanted without a way over market price. This one met all the criteria, so I nabbed it!! Since they've been banned from import, this is more of an investment gun than anything else (besides the WOW factor ) So, anything new in your collection?

Kris

Sweet. I was thinking of getting one also. What does it weigh? They look kinda heavy.

What do you think sold me on it.

You have a trunk gun, I have a closet gun. (no, it's not "in the closet" )

Hey... when you can't get a Phased Plasma Rifle in the 40 watt range, nothing else will do!

With the stock extended, you place the hook under your forearm. This allows you to shoot it one handed while hiding behind a riot shield or such. Kinda cool purpose built feature, but the gun is a bit heavy for that. (either that or I'm a pu$$y)

Firing one-handed on the movie sets, IIRC.

Sharpen it up and use it for fishing.

Congrats!

I almost bought one with the same stock about 12 years ago at a gun show. The governator used one in the first Terminator film. "That's Italian...you can go pump, or auto."

Nothing new for me in the past few months. I'm going to buy a 1911 (my first!) from the Colt custom shop very soon, I hope.

Very cool addition; I have one and love it. Very reliable for me, and always gets asked about when I take it to the range.

Looks like the older "lever-stlye" safety on it? There was a recall on them for ADs, but I've never had it occur - I just use the quick safety in front of the trigger.

I just bought a Kimber Ultra CDP.

Someday I'll get a SPAS 12 if I can ever find one.  I haven't seen one in person for years.

Yep. I already knew about that. What's a safety for anyways? The guy that runs www.spas12.com said that the lever safeties can be converted. I'm trying to pry the info out of him right now.

Exactly the website I was getting ready to add; If you wouldn't mind - could you let me know if you get a decent response from him? It's never been an issue, but would be interested in how complex it is.

From experience; take some advil if you plan on shooting it for any length of time - The steel stock and a 100 or so slugs leave a cool bruise

I guess you can work on your Austrian accent.

I had one of those for awhile and then replaced it with a USAS-12.

Just picked up a 20" Rem 870 Magnum SP last week.

I want a USAS12 and a Street Sweeper also. Isn't the USAS registered as a DD?

Both are DD's. Forget the Street Sweeper. If you want that style, try to find a Striker 12.
Select-fire,drum-fed USAS-12's are more fun,though.

Banned because of the Sporting Use clause. The alphabet bunch (or AG, not sure) didn't think they were a "sporting use" firearm, so they were banned from importation. Even though SPAS stands for Sporting Purpose Automatic Shotgun.

not alot  I thnik the streetsweepers had 18in barrels strikers were 12"
USAS 12s are cooler like a giant AR15

edit did a search strikers were clockwork actions to spin the cly   streetsweepers were manual rotation and did not have to wound
