As a pre-veterinary student I work at a county animal shelter helping provide medical care for the animals here. Today we had a young individual who got the opportunity to spend the day with us doing gardening and cleaning up as punishment for killing an animal.
Seems this individual and his friend thought it would be wise to throw rocks at an injured sea-bird. and then continue to torture/mangle the bird while it was still alive.
This kid felt remorse for his actions and was let-off fairly lightly. His friend on the other hand, feels no-remorse and will be here next weekend cleaning out our walk-in freezer where all the animal remains are kept.
*hopefully* somebody doesnt trip the AC unit off prior to the cleaning...it can get nasty enough in there to gag a maggot after a few hours.
