I've been listening to a loop of "Video Killed the Radio Star" and "Hey Mickey" for the last three hours -- (nice background music while I am working on a manuscript and doing data analysis).

I can't decide which is better - but both are awesome!

Mickey.

The video had cheerleaders.

Both should be banned.

"Hey Mickey" is more entertaining but "Video Killed The Radio Star" gets massive points for being spot on. The Buggles need to do a follow-up, "Crappy Teen Reality Shows Killed the Video Star" in honor of MTV being a 24 hour-a-day crapfest now.

Video Killed The Radio Star.

Hands down.

Quick, lock this thread....

First they were pissed about the damn cartoon.....once they hear a Dane is listening to that crap they will really be pissed!!!!

Hmmmm...I'm kind of partial to Lee Ritneour or Larry Carlton when writing or doing research, but to each his own!

For a variety of complicated reasons, I think that of the two choices the Buggles would be more condusive to scoring a Nobel nomination.

You must have been watching the Olympics opening ceremony. It was a lovefest for bad 80's disco music. I dont' remember hearing Hey Mickey, but they did play VKTRS. These songs sucked when they came out, and they still suck today.

Video Killed the Radio Star - The Presidents of the USA version.

UHHHH...... The best song in the world would have to be ANGEL EYES by STEEL HEART.

No kidding, they shouldn't even be in the same category. "Mickey" lyrics a 5-year-old could come up with.

I'm leanings towards agreeing that VKTRS is a "better song" but Mickey is somehow more toe-tappingly catchy.

3rdpig I DID hear VKTRS last night when watching the olympics thing, but have been listening to Mickey for weeks now.

The Buggles is way better. The video that LAUNCHED MTV for a period of greatness and glory that lasted nearly 5 years.

Way to make me look shallow there, Troy.

Thanks a TON buddy...

I hope this is a joke.

For an upgrade from Mickey, try playing Afternoon Delight, Color My World, and Blue, Blue, My World is Blue.

After a few hours of that, you will leave work and drive at incredibly high speeds until you hit a bridge column.

What was the second song played on MTV. Hint it was a Pat Benatar song.
Link Posted: 2/11/2006 4:38:07 PM EDT
all righty then....sounds like all you need to do is add Rock Lobster to that loop

Mickey has the driving, uptempo, syncopated beat to keep your toe tapping for steady work. also, mentioned by Echo_Hotel, Larry Carlton and Lee Ritneour are great jazz work music. I like Russ Freeman and The Rippingtons.
