If the old boy isn't suffering from anything chronic, or pain, then always choose life.

He might be slow, but he's still got memories of the hunts of warm Spring days and the cool days of Fall.

[Well I fell for that one hook, line, and sinker.

What about all the squirrel babies?  Think they want to watch mom or dad get crunched by a big old mean and mangy pussycat?]

As much as I HATE cats, I say let him live!
Would you kids say the same about you when you get old?

And I REALLY do hate cats, I wish it were open season on them everywhere, but I cannot see smokin' the pussy 'cause he is slow.... wait..... can we do that for slow drivers?

Oh, I thought that you were talking about putting Buddy down, too.

If you are helping him, go for it!

You need to figure out a watch to catch the pesky tree rats then break their legs so they cant run and let buddy eat them alive. win-win situation 1. buddy gets to think he is a young killing machine once again 2. you dont have to feed him for the rest of the day 3. it would be fun to watch

Otherwise you must DRAW DOWN on them

I'm not talking about killing Buddy!

He's in perfect health! I'm talking about slowing down one of the squirrels!

I think they misunderstood ever so slightly!

Anyway, hmmmm...tough question.  If there's no doubt that Buddy would dispatch the victim in his customary manner, I personally don't see anything wrong with winging one for him or giving him a little help.  However, I don't know, he might not see it as sporting and thus let the unfortunate wretch squeal and flop around in the yard without finishing him off.

You might want to test the idea and go ahead and see how Buddy goes along with it.  If he reacts with the same deadly, youthful zeal he used to, then why not?  That'll teach those smarty pants squirrels!  However, if he seems less than enthusiastic I'd just let the squirrels enjoy their temporary respite from the jaws of fate for, without doubt, eventually Buddy's successor will be stalking your yard and the kingdom of the squirrels shall quiver in fear!

It's hard to go against the Arfcom momentum.

I'll vote for any measure that means more dead squirells.

come now, do you really need to justify the killing of squirrels?

do it

I don't know about this one...

I think you should buy a few feeder mice and let Buddy play with em.

Leave the squirrels alone, I don't want Buddy to end up eating lead.

Shoot the cat.  Keep the squirrel as a pet.

I have to admit, as far as cats go, he is kind of cool looking.

Sure, help the old guy out.

Maybe you could put an ad in the paper, pretending to be an animal rescue for squirrels, asking people to bring injured ones to your house.

Help him out... like it's really a chore to go shoot some moving targets like tree rats.

Your cat will know you "slowed down" his prey. It will ionsult him. It would be like your wife telling you she got off wicked good last time you did it but in your head you know it sucked

Why not shoot the rodent then tie a string around his neck and drag him past your old pals nose. you know a cat can't resist anything moving away from it, he'll never  see the string, all he'll see is lunch
