how many entries can we submit? Also, will it be SAFE-SEMI or SAFE-SEMI-AUTO/BURST?

My submission:

or

STANDBY - GO TIME

Tom Sawyer mfg. is great at what he does, and a nice guy to boot! He let all of us shoot his MG collection last fall!

DVD, I kind of like Hot and Cold for the selector markings.

how about just safe and fire.

anyways, I hate to be a turd but it may be a legal liability re-labeling a safety feature to something different.

There was a big thread two weeks ago complete with letters from the ATF saying as long as the serial number and location of manufacture are not tampered with, you can do whatever the heck you want.

"Club mode"
and
"Rifle mode"

Or, just 0 and 1.

For those so endowed, "Peace", "Firepower", and "Superior Firepower" would be cool.

Im not talking about the ATF. Im talking about some dumbass consumer that isnt a AR veteran. Im talking about the dumbshit that is going to leave his rifle selector on "Norris" when it should have been on "Feinstein" and accidentally kills his neighbors dog. So, then the neighbor sues him. He doesnt have any money so his lawyer recommends that they sue the gun manufacturer. And of course they win because the safety features were unclear and cryptic. Now Tom Sawyer has to close up his business because he cant afford the payments on the multi-million dollar judgement against his business. Now you and I cant buy any more custom lowers and we all die a little on the inside because we contributed to what we thought was a laugh but ended up with a broken business, a dead dog and one more strike against the firearms industry.

You may think this is a joke. But im not joking, this shit is seriously real and unfortunatly an acceptable part of our society.

Since the "peace" symbol is supposed to be based on a MIRV, why not use the elements

Circle O : Safe
Circle w/ vertical line or just vertical line | : Semi
Circle w/mirvs or just the MIRVs /|\ : Auto

or if you only want 2 markings (safe, semi):

Safe = PAX
Semi = BELLUM

How, HOW do you figure? I'd say that's a stretch.

Besides, it doesn't look like they're being RE-labeled. Looks like they're being freshly labeled.

Legally you can change EVERYTHING except the serial #. The ATF has ruled on this several times.

ETA: saw your clarification above.

Civil litigation should be defensible based on (1) custom lower not being marketed to lcd consumer - it is aimed at enthusiasts, and (2) a signed, returned statement that the buyer understands that the markings are unusual.

By the same argument, someone can sue based on the markings (or lack thereof) on AKs, or in Hebrew on a Galil, or a non-anglophone by the words "safe" and "semi" in place of some supposedly universal symbol, or the use of a supposedly universal symbol in place of "safe" or "semi". The same argument goes for different transmission stick setups: Is a manufacturer to be stopped from making a 6 speed b/c some wrinkle pig forgot that R wasn't for racing speed? Clearly no. What if the selector was left unlabeled at all? Does that remove the onus from the user to safely learn how to operate the firearm? Clearly not.

Could litigation or adverse legislation ensue? Of course. It always could and always can.

Should it stop enthusiasts from engaging in customization? No.
