Was out in the woods Behind Quantico and had a long range photo shot at a MH-53E that was around 8 miles away.

That unit puts out one heck of exhausts plume and it is very loud.

Uh, which direction is the chopper in the original photo heading? Straight towards/away from the camera?

My view was looking at the SSE and it was turning East, so it would be in motion away from me.

I used to live about a mile across Back Bay in Norfolk from them (mine sweepers). They'd only move 3-5 knots while pulling that sled, and it was about 3 miles to the bridge. When they were grounded for a while it got nice and quite.
