Damage to the car in the first picture doesn't look that bad.
Sure, it crunched the body work and probably anything like a front mounted radiator.
Look at the cabin, no stressed metal, doesn't look like the wheel alignment is terribly out of whack. In the side shot with the door close, can't tell if the door is just partially closed or if the door buckled upwards from the hinges being bent due to structual problems.
The structure of the cars frame may be good, sheet metal probably just goes tango uniform in just such an impact.

I want to know what direction of travel the car was coming from so it would help to let me know just how it spun to get into final orientation. To spin a car like that would take a pretty good impact, depending on the direction of travel if he missed the pole he may have had a fun trip into the drink.
