secure the border
repeal all federal gun control laws
end the war on drugs
begin a massive nuclear plant construction project
put more money towards nuclear fusion and alternative energy research
bigger tax breaks for hybrid cars
open up the florida coast for oil/natgas drilling
overrule roe vs wade and let the individual states decide on abortion
generally try to preserve as much states' rights as possible - if an issue which isn't specifically a federal issue can be decided at the state level, then let the states decide.
upstate NY should secede from NYC
downstate IL should secede from chicago
western/northern CA should secede from coastal CA
etc

motown_steve,

I'm with you on pretty much everything you have (thoughtfully) listed.

However, I must disagree with you on #4 in the "things I am for column"

I personally don't believe in abortion, I think it's totally wrong, immoral, selfish, etc. I just don't believe the .gov needs to stick it's nose in our business any more than it does already. Otherwise I gotta say you're right on.

just my .02

International minimum wage? Why should we price match some banana republic? You a commie?

I'm good with most of that, except:

international minimum wage: not going to happen and not a great idea if you ask me. if Bolivia can put aluminum cooking pots together cheaper than we can, then let them. we need to learn that some industries are best left to others

animal/human hybrids: why the hell not? if we can splice animal DNA into human DNA to cure problems(like my fucking defective scarred lungs for example) why shouldnt we do it?

Because American's can't compete with the wages that people in Hondurous, China and Pakistan make.

That's interesting on how you seem to be for very limited government intervention and strongly for personal freedom....yet mandating government intervention and completely outlawing the personal freedom of others. I think they have a name for someone like that, a dictator. Sorry, your vision of the world sounds like a 3rd world country to me. You know, you could go to Africa and pretty much get everything on your list. As for me, I prefer a country where it's people are looked after when it comes to health and wellbeing.

3. Instituting a 5% flat federal income tax and allowing states to institute another 5% flat income tax (and no deductions)

I have to disagree with you on that one. I believe that there should be no federal income tax. I don't have a problem with states having an income tax, or sales tax, or whatever taxes they want. Florida could have no income tax, and California could have 35% income tax, as an example. Where would you choose to live? The other benefit is the feds would have to ask states for money, so there would be some inherent fiscal responsibility.
I doubt states would be willing to fund a tens of millions of dollars bridge to an island where 80 people live, for example.

The feds basically operate as a monopoly. Giving states some of the responsibility introduces a measure of competition.

Sealed Border

Sealed is a bit strong for me. After all we are a nation of imigrants. If you mean to tighten it and uphold imigration laws.. than yes, I am with you.

Things that I am against:

Price Controls

Looks right to me.

The only addition I have to this is a hybrid of another, remove any Federal Judge that thinks they create law. Lets leave the Federal Gov't to uphold the Constitution and leave the rest to the states as it was supposed to be.

That is what I mean make it harder for illegal's to get into the country. No problem with people who want to go through the legal channels to become productive citizens. I welcome their desire to become Americans. I do not welcome people who feel that it is their right to come to America and live off the taxpayer. There is also the issue of national security.

Top 10 things that I am for:

1. Eliminating all gun control Does that include guns for felons?
2. Eliminating all property, sales, captial gains, etc. taxes I'd support removing property taxes, but sales tax is a fair tax (you pay it when you spend, you don't if you save)
3. Instituting a 5% flat federal income tax and allowing states to institute another 5% flat income tax (and no deductions) How do municipalities raise money then (since there is no property tax or sales tax)?
4. Outlawing abortion completelyThis will galvanize the left. Whether you are opposed to abortion or not, having it legal is a GOOD thing for the conservative cause.
5. Eliminating Social Security That's fine, as long as you have a good transition plan.
6. Eliminating Medicare/Medicade And replace with what?
7. International Minimum Wage (level the playing field between 3rd world workers and American workers)What's bizarre is that all of your other points are right wing, and here you are advocating a very socialist new world order point.
8. Eliminating Iran's Air Force, missles and missle development facilities, nuclear facilities through intensely violent and quickly executed bombing campaign coordinated with assassinations of selected scientists, teachers, military leaders, politicians and religous leaders.
9. Continuing to develop alternative sources of energy and fuel.
10. Drilling in the Alaskan Oil goldmine in the meantime.

Top 10 things that I am against -

1. Setting a time table for withdrawl from Iraq, or pulling out too soon (since we're there we might as well finish the job)
2. Free Trade AgreementsAgain, a pretty weird stance from someone with otherwise conservative views
3. Giving that racist theif down on the Bayou one red cent to rebuild the toilet that nature flushed.
4. Guest worker programs
5. Human-Animal Hybrids
6. Invading Iran with ground forces
7. China's Most Favored Nation trading status
8. Repealing child labor, work place safety or overtime laws Same comment as #2
9. Socialized Medicine
10. The insurance industry as a whole

As other people have pointed out, you could probably move to Cambodia and live in the world of your dreams...

Really? In my company, our highest labor cost facility is in Silicon Valley. Our lowest labor cost operation is in South China. Last quarter, the operation in Silicon Valley had 3 times the profit margin of the one in China. And we pay over 50 times as much per hour for labor in the Valley compared to South China.

Guess I better alert the CEO to move all that uncompetitive stuff out of the US and off to China.

Well said, add some more border security and I'm right there with you.

I've advocated a flat income (or better, a flat sales tax- this would tax everybody, even those who make money under the table) for a long time.

Herein lies the problem with Free Trade Agreements. Yes, capitalism levels all playing fields, if all parties involved are capitalists. Most of the nations we have FTA's with are quasi-socialists nations that sign on to all sorts of stipulations ensuring fair trade and then promptly refuse to abide by them. JMHO

By the way Zaphod, how are things working out since Tril shafted you? Hope it's all going reasonably well.

2. Eliminating all property, sales, captial gains, etc. taxes agree
3. Instituting a 5% flat federal income tax and allowing states to institute another 5% flat income tax (and no deductions) 10% federal 5% state seems more plausible 5% for fed wouldn't be enough
4. Outlawing abortion completely excluding rape, incest and womans health or severe deformity and even then never in third trimester. Would like to see it a state choice not federal
5. Eliminating Social Security Disagree but give options to either use SS or invest in retirement no more forces SS though
6. Eliminating Medicare/Medicade reform yes eliminate nah
7. International Minimum Wage (level the playing field between 3rd world workers and American workers) Hell no
8. 3. Giving that racist theif down on the Bayou one red cent to rebuild the toilet that nature flushed. LOL agree
4. Guest worker programs Disagree who the hell in America is gonna pick lettuce for $5 an hour? Rather see it done by legal temp guest workers than the illegal riff Raff that does it now
5. Human-Animal Hybrids The Island of Doctor Moreau stuff hell no. Taking a human cell in a test tube and mutating it with shark cells to cure cancer hell ya
6. Invading Iran with ground forces don't want to, but may have to
