Our local church had some grafitti sprayed on it last night. The symbol they painted looks like a backwards letter "N" with a longer line straight up through the center of the letter. They also wrote something like "watch out for the bear" or something like that. Anyone know what this means

No, it is not a black church. It is an Episcopal church with about 95% of the congregation being white.

Do you mean the gay-loving, anti-Bush, abortions supporting Episcopal Church or the one that threw out the 1928 BCP and took the Battle Hymn of the Republic out of the Hymnal or the one that started ordaining women?   or the one the "teachers" at the local "Christian" school say is a satanic cult?

I can't think of any reason why the nazis might not like them.

You sound like one of those Episcopalians like me.  I just stick around to see what crazy thing they come up with next.  (Most of the Diocese of Los Angeles thinks we are the local Nazis since we didn't support the "Free Tookie" resolution at the Convention.  They couldn't really call us Racists since it was our black delegate that stood up and asked the Chair, (paraphrasing)  WTF were they thinking? Had anybody seriously looked at the trail records and evidence?)

My vote is for stupid kids though.

How is it racial, do you automatically percieve it as meaning blacks, because I define a porch monkey as any person who gets high on a moldy couch on a porch and sells drugs or their asshole at night.  Ive known blacks, hispanics, asians, and even whites (majority of porch monkeys Ive known) that fit this lifestyle.

Duncan, Duncan?  You don't happen to know Harry and Jean Messenheimer do you?  I was going to joke that Harry was an interesting Oklahoma Episcopalian.  Maybe you can ask him to play you his Johnny Cash Everybody Loves a Nut album.   They were very good friends of my parents and more or less introduced them.  Harry was a record holding Swimmer at USC. Ask him how he feels about the SC -Texas game.

I visited them about 2 years ago and they took me to the Mears BBQ and the Washita(sp?) Wildlife Refuge.

Nazis hate everybody.

If you are black or Jewish, then you are attempting to destroy the white man.

If you are white and aren't on their side, then you are a traitor to your race and have to be exterminated too.

Youd be surprised what white trash kids know about the nazis and White Supremacy, especially here, where we are too far south to be Yankees, and too far north to be Southern, we are simply trash. Racism runs rampant, but its usually not organized.

I spoke to CAR-AR. I advised him that as far as we know, there are no organized factions of neo-nazis or white supremacists in this county, or even in the adjoining counties. People here simply dont have the drive to organize..they are too busy watching wrestling and going to jail for hot checks.

My money is on some kids with the internet, who think they are gonna be cool. The church is not in a bad partof town by any means. I will make some phone calls tonight when I go on duty. I will see if I can dig something up for him, and ya'll.

That symbol is the Gibor rune, also known as 'Wolfsangel' (wolf hook). The Wolfsangel is believed to possess powers to ward off wolves. In the 15th century it was adopted by peasants during their revolt against the mercenaries of the German Princes, and was thereafter regarded as a symbol of liberty and independence.

Just like the Swastika, it used to have a positive meaning until the Nazis adopted it for their ends.

My Dad used to carry his CW under his robes as a Lay Reader and LEM before there were officially LEMs.  Well his whole uniform was under the robes including gunbelt, so maybe that really doesn't count as CW.  Our Parish was one cited several times by the BlacK Panthers as a target for involuntary donation of the offering. Our Bishop was told quite firmly by his secretary that any anti-gun pronouncements would need to be typed by somebody else because she would be gone.  since the Diocese would collapse without her he kept quiet.  My son grew up in what were the most moderate parishes in the Diocese of Los Angeles, mostly because most of the conservative parishes had already left.  He says that they are quite liberal compared to the Parishes he has attended in South Carolina.  I spect your parishes in OK are much closer to the SC (South Carolina) parishes than the SC (Southern California) parishes in many ways.
