I think I would pick an AK47, maybe a S&W 357 revolver. But probably the AK.
a ruger or S&W revolver
a RRA, I own two, and between friends there are 4 more that I see shot all the time. Not a one has ever had a non magazine related malfunction, and those were with cheap ass USA mags from a gun show. |
glock, If I couldnt shoot them, then at least I could kill us all with the kabooms I keep hearing about...
Assuming never fired before:
Home Invasion = Glock for sure US Invasion = AK |
if i had no choice, SW revolver. nothing else.
even then i wouldn't be happy about it. |
depends.
is it new? used? homebuilt? factory made? if factory made, I'll take a Bushmaster or an HK (well made, reliable and accurate) if used, I'll take a Glock or an AK (can take a beating) if homebuilt, I would have to know by who so I could determine if using it as a club would be best |
We will say that you don't have that information at the time of the decision.^ |
CZ 75B - like the FAL, its world reknown and is NATO approved. Plus, numerous countries currently deploy it.
Beretta 92FS for auto pistol
Ruger Redhawk for DA rev. in .44 A bolt rifle...Savage, Win mod 70 or something rugged and hearty like a Rem 788 in .308 the more technical and the more parts, the less I would want to trust it.... |
Colt AR. At least they test fire them so hopefully they did it well.
Yep. alternatively Pre 1970 S&W revolver/Mauser 98 |
Remington 870 as a sight unseen run in and grab a gun out of a pile.
CHEATER! plus, I didn't think of that |
+1 Revolver. We're talking about "trust with my life" and "never test fired". Its easy to sit back and speculate when you haven't been in this position. We all love our ARs and HKs, etc. I have built my own ARs that have run flawlessly. When hurricane Katrina hit, however, and people were being shot in parking lots for their cars with fuel, I slept with my AK. All pride and pretense go out the window when your life is on the line.

Anybody that says 1911 is crazy. I love mine, but if you grabbed my brand new Springer before I had a chance to work on it, you would have grabbed a jam-o-matic. Congrats, you're a dead man.
I'd probably grab a S&W 357, or similar revolver. It's "Six for sure" for a reason. Odds are (and all we have are odds in this example), it's gonna go bang every time. |
If you give me a revolver it would only take about a minute to find out if it will work or not, so I pick a revolver.
I like the fact that the AK is winning in the poll. I picked the ak because not only because of its track record, but because I know how to clear it, and operate it even if it does malfunction. And a thirty round mag gives you 24 extra chances that a six gun can't. Though the firepower is alot from the ak, I think it's better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

+1 |

AK47. Made to be idiot proof I think it would have the best chance of being operational regardless what might have happened to it.
GLOCK, presently 32 out of 92 votes, more than any other. [ 36.96% ]
5 poll options skew the results. |
