Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - School me on Winchester lever action 1894's...

I've always wanted a lever action 94.  Looking at my friends last night piqued my interest again.  Later that night I discovered Winchester is closing the plant that makes these.  So I need to pick one up.  More than likely I'll look for a new Winchester Trapper in 30-30 at Wal Mart or one of those type of places.  Anyone have a clif notes buyers guide on these types of guns????

If you want one & can find one at W*M, I'd buy it on the spot.  I understand they have been flying off the shelves at the big-box stores ever since the announcement and many of the small, independent shops have already marked them up accordingly.  I did notice higher prices on them (new and used) at the local gun show last weekend.
