Watching Last Man Standing while re-OSing a computer I got for helping someone move. Anyone want to tell me how I can make the computers "see" all the stuff on each other's hard drives after I make them shared in Win2kPro? I used to be a computer whiz, but the fact that I did very little networking and I haven't been around 'puters much has dulled those $k!||z.

Dont think I broke anything...*shrug* Win2kPro both puters, connected to the same 4port router. Could the D-link software (in the router) be causing a hiccup? They both see eachother and can access the folder with printer and scheduled tasks folders. I just cant see the hard drives. I tried making them shared, no joy. Bit out of my league here, I just fix software issues, clean up others mistakes, and diagnose/reinstall software and hardware. Networking is one of those dark arts I never took up. I figured if I had packets and could ping, then I could figure out the rest. Everything is still retaining its magic smoke so far... ETA: Two boxes hooked up through a KDM switch. It shouldn't make a diff, but... |

Busted NOTHING... she wants me to buy this thing and sneak it in the house... FIRST... My wife isnt dumb and will notice a new bass in the house SECOND... I THINK the wife will notice 700.00 missing from the bank account. Although that bass WAS friggin smooooooooooooth!!!!

Yup! We don't have those type of "guns" here! With all the gun nuts around here, I have yet to see an AK among their "collection". You don't even see them being used by the MNLF / MILF (Muslim groups) in Mindanao .... at least not from the news photos I have seen.

w00t! That worked. I guess I will just make a folder named "Transfer" on each computer and put a copy of whatever I want on there in that folder. Could you IM me some hints or steps or links of how to make a drive show up, if I wanted to (and I do) make the "slave" computer a storage tower? Thanks, Mike

One more dumb question before I go back to my movie: Why cant I highlight/copy all the data from one hard drive to another and make it boot up like it was on the other hard drive? Installing all that BS is a pain in the ass, and without an imaging program like Altiris I dont know how to do it. |
