Don't you have to have some kind of family ties to be a freemason? My mother is Easter Star, my mothers father was a Mason (died before I was born), my wife's grandfather was a Mason (died before I was born), my wife's father was a mason (died soon after we met). I don't know if I would join if asked, but I've never really had anyone alive to ask questions of.

No you do not have to have any ties to freemasonry at all to join. All you have to do is ask for a petition to join a lodge.

In Arizona the petition has to be signed by two masons, one of which has to have known you for six months. If you don't know any masons to sign for you a lodge will generally wait the six months to allow a member to get to know you and then vote on the petition.

If you have any questions feel free to ask me.

Dang , I figured they'd get along with freemasons/Shriners....what with that little fez hat they wear.

Civitan/Rotary clubs.....yeah they're soooo evil. Didn't MS-13 start off as a Moose Club????
