ive noticed this too. what factors determine if an area is high-re or not? anyone know which areas are highest-res? philladelphia seemed to have very good detail on the ships in the yard. but outside of the city some areas you cant even make out houses or buildings. |

Likely if someone before google had paid for a high resolution scan of an area, and google buys those scans later. Maybe a developer or businessman had an interest in satellite images of certain area so they paid for the pics. I've seen suburbs next to cities where the burbs are high-res but the cities are low res. But that's because the burbs are growing and buliding and nothing is really happening in the city. |

Try looking at 1600 Penn. Ave in Washington DC, the capitol, and the pentagon. They're blurred out, unless something's changed.
