Google earth shows my truck parked in the driveway of my parent's house, across the street from their house, and in the driveway at my house.

ive noticed this too. what factors determine if an area is high-re or not? anyone know which areas are highest-res?

philladelphia seemed to have very good detail on the ships in the yard. but outside of the city some areas you cant even make out houses or buildings.

Likely if someone before google had paid for a high resolution scan of an area, and google buys those scans later. Maybe a developer or businessman had an interest in satellite images of certain area so they paid for the pics.

I've seen suburbs next to cities where the burbs are high-res but the cities are low res. But that's because the burbs are growing and buliding and nothing is really happening in the city.

Try looking at 1600 Penn. Ave in Washington DC, the capitol, and the pentagon.  They're blurred out, unless something's changed.
