After all this talk of SHTF and TEOTWAWKI, those of you whose children live with the ex, how do you plan for the evac of them? And do you take the mother/father with you? Just curious. I am not divorced. But I think that if I were, I would have a hard time getting to sleep worrying about the kids safety on a normal night, much less a bad situation. Anyone already have contingency plans? What say you?

give them a pack and a rifle, if they cant keep up that's their problem

I suppose how you treat the ex will be directly related to how well the Ex treated you in the divorce.

I mean, we are talking TEOTWAWKI, here, total breakdown of law and order...

I only read the title, so I voted wrong. I thought it was about the kids. I would bring her if she wanted to come. But there would be no question the kid is coming with me, no matter what she thinks.

I'd hate to have to look my kids in the eyes, if I abandoned their Mother and something happened to her.

Luckily, my kids are grown and the point is mute. Now I wouldn't take their Mother to a dog fight...even if she prommised to win!

Take the kids. Invite their mother as long as she'll live by your rules.

If she resists, leave her and take the kids anyway.

Ironic you have posted this. I have been thinking about the same situation in regards to my daughter. We have joint custody and she lives with her mom during the week and is with me Fri night thru Mon morning. I have wrestled with how I would handle a situation if trouble arose while she was at her mom's. I voted "depends on my mood" but would amend that to say it depends on Ex's mood as well. I suppose it would depend on the mood of my current wife as well.

I'm taking the kids. If she can keep up fine, if not, see ya.

Why? Did something bad happen?

In my case, I'm the custodial parent but my daughter is with her mother several hundred miles away in the summer. If SHTF during that time, my problem wouldn't be the ex, it would be getting to my kid before the ex moved her to an unknown location. I would assume cell phones would be dead, so it would be damn near impossible to find her (but I'd damn sure try).
