These guys were robbing the place blind, might want to double check if buying something similar in or from that area. Workers charged with stealing, then selling guns
The Associated Press Four workers at a gun distribution company were charged with theft after allegedly stealing 90 guns worth about $36,000 and selling them on the streets, police said.
Dexter Ford and John Simmons of Shreveport; Robert Ray of Keithville; and Charles Delaney of Bossier City were arrested Tuesday for theft of firearms, Sheriff Steve Prator said. Demario Mitchell and Gregory Shaffer, both of Shreveport, were arrested for illegal possession of stolen firearms. All were booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
Investigators running a firearms trace on two guns seized during a traffic stop in Bienville Parish discovered 90 handguns were missing from a Shreveport warehouse. One had been pawned at a local pawn shop, and two more were confiscated by Shreveport Police for having obliterated serial numbers, Prator said.
The remaining 85 guns are still unaccounted for. They include: 47 Springfield 9 mm handguns and 38 Charles Daly 9 mm handguns.
"If you think you have one of these guns, just turn it in to us. No questions asked," Caddo Sheriff's Detective Andy Scoggins said.
The thefts occurred between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and Ford, Simmons, Ray and Delaney were all employees at the warehouse at the time, deputies said. The guns were stolen a few at a time during their work hours.
