buddy of mine had a 16" m4gery, RRA upper on a bushy lower, , Eotech, various other goodies, sold it on GB for $650, he mentioned he might put it on GB, but for that price I would have grabbed it without a second thought, I told him that two days later, and he said the auction had already ended

Harrisburg Gun show, 2002 or so. I was debating between a pistol, or a USC carbine.   I wandered over to a dealer table full of Springfield M1As. Guy tells me he's got a standard M1A with scope (forget who's) and mount for $850. I had $1k in my pocket. I thought about it, he handed it to me, I played with it, and gave it back.

I told this story to my gun dealer when I went in to buy my HK pistol from him. He called me "an idiot".

Same dealer told me he could probably scrounge me up a USC for around $700 or $750 if I gave him some time. I passed on it. Could have a UMP clone by now! ARGH.

Colt SP2 AR-15 pre-ban for 400.  Guy didn't know what he had, asked if I wanted it.  I didn't have the cash, I swear I would have ran out and sold plasma if I could have.

I had to decide between a Marlin Guide Gun and a Winchester 94 for my Christmas present. Not that I regret or dislike the Guide Gun, but I wish I had known about the upcoming bankrupcy.

Then there was the 18" Remington 870 Police complete with correct Remington metal top folding stock in great condition for $300 at a gun show.

I also regret procrastinating for so long on my CMP purchasing. I just barely missed out on the Springfield USGI Service Grades by like a day.

Not too bad, I guess, compared to some of you guys who could have had Steyer AUGs and FNC's for like the price of a modern cell phone a few decades ago.

I'd still like to get one someday.

I also want a Belgian Browning Auto-5 12ga, with the safety that goes through the front of the trigger guard.

SR-25 : Thought it was ugly and heavy as a boat anchor.  Besides, I had better things to spend $1300 on.

H&K SP89 - Why would anybody want a big, clunky, 9mm pistol.  If I could have bought it for around $400, instead of the princely sum of $650, I probably would have.

Eagle Arms pre ban for $600.00 just before the CA ban of 2000. At the time new AR's were going for around $1,000.00+ in CA. I just didn't have the cash. This rifle was for sale for a long time. When I got the money, it was gone. Sold the previous day.

All original Colt 1911, dated 1918. All there and correct. Two tone lanyard mag. Beautiful gun. $800.00. I thought it was way too much, did some research, found out the value and went back with cash in hand. Gone.

There's lots of others that I should have bought. Including some that would be very valuable and illegal without the proper paperwork/tax stamp today.

not so much me, but my dad-

We were on a vacation in Tennessee around 1985(IIRC) and we came across a Barrett M82 for sale for about $500. We had NEVER seen anything like this before and my dad about died when he found out it was a .50 BMG(being a Marine he loves the M2 so...). He could have gotten it but would have had to cut our vacation short and since it was our first vacation(my parents saved for YEARS) ever he decided to forgo the .50 and continue the Vacation. He (and I) wished he had picked it up but it was an awesome vacation anyway

1981 the sherriff, was modernizing the department. Offered to all officers a 1927 Thomposon (I think they were A1 model) for $500 Fed. Tax included. I was a Rookie and poor so I passed. BTW He sold a couple and traded 6 for 12 of the S&W 9mm that was hot at the time I do remember they were a POS next to the old thompsons.

Colt 1911A1 National Match for $500.00 about 15 years ago. It looked like it had been Bubba'd and someone put on some sights that were way too big for the pistol. My Buddy who was a 1911 collector told me to get it or he would. Of course I passed on it and he bought it on the spot.

Little did I know it was authentic and they look that way.

A guy desperate for money took a Colt 6920 into a local shop to sell it, and he took the $400 that the store owner offered.  If I had the cash, I could have offered him $500 and walked away with it.  The damn thing was pretty much brand new too, the guy needed rent money.

I saw a pristine Kentucky State Police marked S&W 1076 in a gun shop a few months after the KSP switched to the GLOCK 35. It was priced $379, but only $325 if you paid cash. I didn't have the cash on me and I wanted to save the $54, so I went back the next day with cash in hand. I got there a few minutes after they opened to find they had sold it at closing time the previous day.

I was driving to visit my parents, took a detour, passed a little country store.  Stopped to get something to eat, drink.  In there in a rack behind the counter was a Winchester 1901 lever action 12 ga, similar to the one Paul Newman used to clean house in the movie Judge Roy Bean.  It was tagged for $100.  As you may know, there are not a lot of those around.

I continued my trip, visited with Dad, told him about the shotgun.  "Hell, son, why didn't you buy it?"  I should have.  So, a few days later on my way back I stopped there.

When I pulled up a fire pumper was still there, a few firemen still squirting the few remaining smoldering hot spots.  The place had caught fire and burned to the ground.

I could have bought a Ithaca 37 Police model with 18" barrel, 8 shot magazine, almost new, no blue wear for 175 dollars when I was 15, Dad kept insisiting I buy it, but I didnt as I had my mind set on something else. Now I have seen several in worse condition go for 600 to 700 dollars on Gunbroker.

Could have bought a 60's vintage NIB Colt Combat Commander for $375 a couple of years ago, I just couldnt come up with the cash.

Never mind what I shoulda bought! I should have sold my NIB blue label Colt 6520 before the sunset of the ban for $3,000 !!!!!!!

Of course if I had sold it, then the ban never would have been lifted. So you'll should thank me for hanging onto it.
