Also, what events would develop if Israel attacked Iran and destroyed their nuke program?

I think it would be safe to say the city of Teheran would cease to exist, for starters.

ETA - or is it Tehran?

If Iran hit Israel, Isreal would realtiate with multiple nukes against Iran and any other Arab country they thought might me involved.

If Israel hit Iran: Nothing.

there would finally be peace in the middle east.

For one thing, they'd remodel the Dome of the Rock.

<Edit>
If Israel nuked Iran:

Syria and Egypt would make ugly noises… Saudi Arabia would have to kill about a 1000 people to stay in power. Jordan just might fall, it depends on how much spine the military has. Turkey and Pakistan… well hell, who knows WTF with Turkey and Pakistan?

There would be another spate of suicide bombings and then not a thing.

Israel is already in a state of war with these shitheads - Even if they will not acknowledge it.

I can only see things getting worse, much worse, until someone gets the balls to “crush the Islamic state.”

Iran nukes Israel: Bye bye Iran; maybe Syria and Egypt too

Iran would cease to exist (think big glass parking lot) and as long as Israel could recover, the world would be a better place.

That would make the count three down (Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan) and one to go (Syria).

Depends on who the Iranians hit.  they hti the Israeli NCA, it's going to take time to respond.  None of the Arab states would get involved.  Remember the Arabs and Persians generally hate each other.

If the Iranians were dumb enough to hit Jerusalem and damage the Dome of the Rock, I would expect some tacit if not outright support for a response by Israel by other Moslem states.

I doubt we would see much more than rending of garments and gnashing of teeth if the Israelis hit first.  You can be pretty damn sure the Pakis and Indians are gonna be pretty damn pissed as the fallout drifts down to them, no matter who caused it.

Considering how tiny Israel is, and how huge Iran is, I seriously doubt that.

.. unless you are saying that the U.S. would fire strategic nukes at Iran in response, and I'm not convinced that the U.S. would.

I'm under the impression that the Israelis have on the order of hundreds of nukes.

I  thought that the Israelis had a few boomer type subs also
I guessing even with a pretty devistsating  attack they have made plans for a effective counter strike

Iran will not destroy Jerusalem.
They would REALLY get it from the arabs then.
Tel-Aviv and possibly Haifa would be the logical targets
of Iran.
Either way, it will be an interesting time we will live in.

If Israel gets nuked, it is doubtful they will recover.  They are a tiny country and cant afford to maintain their power w/o the economy their large cities generate.

Their solution, take them with us.

Nuke em all.  Everyone to the east of them is toast, with the current possible exception of Iraq.  Their all gone.  Jordan to to be on the safe side, Syria, Iran, Saudi, maybe even the little states just out of spite.

Actually, I seriously doubt Iran will ever be successful

Patriot is useless against a BM.

ABL is not operational...I don't even know if the laser has been installed in the plane yet.

Arrow ABM might have some chance, but likely they'd just drive a truck over, or better yet a shipping container in a freighter sailing into a harbor.

I seem to recall that the Patriot missile is in its third version with
improvements against BMs.
The old missile of 15 years ago was indeed mediocre.

Looks like the ABL development is going good.

That's Israel's story, and they're sticking to it.

Based on the power output of the Israeli reactor--that places a  bound on how much Pu they can generate--most people think the Israelis have around 200 nukes.

If a nuke hits Israel or the U.S. it will be smuggled in not on a missile.  Like he said even the persians would not destroy Jerusalem Haifa (ports)is the most likely target followed by Tel Aviv.  Said nuke will be Russian, N.Korean, or Pakistani in orgin but not be fired by them.  Likely it will be sold or stolen.  Russia and China get quite a lot of Oil from Iran so they have a vested interest in assuring at the least a non-nuke war.  Israel is hit Iran and Syria will cease a relevent existence possibly Saudi Arabia as well.  Jordan and Egypt are playing somewhat nice as of late thus thier fate is not certain.  Also if Iran is going to be blinked out of existence they will probably try to hit the largest concentration of our troops they can before Israel finishes them.

The only certainty is moving away from oil as prices will skyrocket.  Can you say DISTABILIZED WORLD MARKET?  Landgrabs and broader war are an eventual certainty.

Perhaps the start of what will truly be the last war.

People flinging nukes around is a scary prospect.

And before the dust even settles China and Russia would be competing to try and claim the resources of the area.

It would get real ugly REAL fast.

I'm glad someone finally mentioned that the world oil market would basically go crazy - at least $100/barrel and that would be limited production.  Follow the economic ripple effect down to massive worldwide layoffs due to the high energy costs, and you've got yourself a worldwide recession.

Bad stuff guys.

Even PAC3 is no ABM system, I mean if it were why did the US spend all that money on our ABM system?

Last thing I head about ABL was that the installed the turret on the bird and were flight testing it.....without the internal components for the laser.  That was a while ago thou...

Mossad would have a field day, gas $20 a gallon max 2 gallons per car, new Orleans type violence everywhere, mass power outages do to energy supply, the government would ration everything, A new depression, NG escorting tanker trucks, Martial law , random nuke detonations, And then...........?????????

And Iran is sporting the newest glass parking lot.

It's unknown what type of weapons they are. For example, do they have H-bombs? Boosted fission-fusion-fission bombs? Mostly tactical nukes or neutron bombs? My guess is that they'd be biased towards tactical nukes. The Jewish demographic is well-represented in physics departments, so they may have some surprising stuff, if untested.

The reactor has been in operation since the early 60's, so they've had a lot of time to generate plutonium for their stockpile. But the size and power generated puts an upper bound on how much they could have accumulated.
