Anybody else keep any of that old stuff? I seem to remember Super Vel being the first to load light bullets and lots of powder. S&W, the old blue & white box, had some interesting stuff too. The one load I will never forget, and I have a box or two, is the S&W 90 gr., .357. I guess they wanted to one-up SV. The little load was like firing a hand canon. Supposedly 200+ fps from a test barrell. SV also had a light .44 mag. load that was fast.

I bought this box for cheap and then word got out that I would buy the stuff so the price went up too high for me.

I guess Super Vel went out of business many years ago. I wonder if they made their own ammo?
I probably have the only known box of S&W 90gr..357 in the world!!

My agency actually carried the stuff when I started with them in the early 1970’s. It pretty much destroyed our Colt Detective Specials.

It was also really dirty (Unique powder maybe?) and often caused stoppages when unburnt power got underneath the extractor star.

My recollection is they went out of business in the mid-1970’s. I believe they actually had a manufacturing facility in Shelbyville, Indiana.

I just gave anyway a couple of boxes of it to a coworker who collects ammo. I got tired of having it around and really didn’t want to shoot it up.

I'm thinking about popping off one of the 90gr. 357s S&W just for the fun of it. Maybe at night.

I've got one of the plastic, clamshell wallet cases with 12(?) rounds of .38 Spec. in it. 90 gr (I think) hollow points. Pretty cool. Never shot any of it though.

Super Vel .38 sp was the carry ammo for Seattle PD in 1970 thru 76 at least

I've got a lot of S&W 357 brass that I reload, and a few SuperVel empties in the 9mm stash.

IIRC both companies stopped producting ammo in the 1978-1982 timeframe. In it's day SuperVel was the cat's ass for hot factory loads.

I've got a box of 9mm Super Vel somewhere.

Also have a box of S&W .38 Nyclads.
