Hi all.

I just came across this news article and am curious if anyone else has more information on this announcement from Winchester.

Winchester may be closing its doors ...

It sure would be a sad day to see 'Made in China' on a Winchester firearm. Hopefully we will not 'export' another US factory.

Group buy? Let's buy it and make brand new Garands.

A damn shame..

Watch the prices for Old Winny's and Winchester Garands really skyrocket now..

You know I was gonna buy a Winchester M1 from CMP a while back when they were still available but I figured that I never would sell it so why pay the extra dollars..

The Winchester plant is being closed in New Haven and 200 people will loose their jobs. At one time 19,000 worked at the plant during WW2. The Winchester names is owned by Olin and they still have the ammo plant. Olin just basically rented the Winchester name to the US Repeating Arms Company until 2007.

Guess the market for lever guns was not enough to keep them going. Yes they had other pricey guns.

It's too bad.
