Hi everybody. Please be nice to me, I'm new here, but for the first time in my life I think I may actually need a gun and therefore may need some advice. Why I need a gun is not what I want to talk about right now, just advice on guns. Like what's an AR15? Should I get one of those or a Glock? How much do they cost?
I've always hated them and been affraid of them even though my ex-boyfriend Tre' had a lot of Glocks and stuff. My friends would freak if they knew I was asking this. |

Welcome Anti-G. Head on over to the Women's Forum and say hello.

....
You decide. That said, why you need a gun determines what you get. Why do you want a gun? Target shooting? Hunting? Self defense? |

Before you touch a firearm you need education (on what the hell to do with it)
Not being condescending, just honest. Find a place with a firearms safety course, and ask lots of questions (vet them here, this place will separate honest answer from BS) Then have fun! |

Hmmm . . . what's the "G" stand for?
You seem kinda fishy, but hello anyway. Mr-H |

Howdy and welcome to the insane asylum.
Please take SP1Grrl's advice and then come back to general discussion. I think most of your questions will be answered there without having to fight off all the horndogs here. |

The only safe place for you is in the women shooters forum - go there - NOW.

I usually give new members the benefit of doubt even when everyone else says . But this one has written all over it. Pretty much every sentence is bait.

AR-15s are rifles much like the one pictured in the upper left of this website.
Really, finding a gun you will like depends alot on you. The weight and feel of it in your hand as well as what you will use it for. If you will be carrying on your person or in your purse or just shooting for fun it could play big on weight and size of the gun you want. Some of the most commonly used caliburs are 9mm, .40sw, and .45acp. The bigger the bullet, the bigger the handgun might be also. Can you describe what you might be looking for in a handgun or rifle? -Foxxz |

got plans to kill some-'thing'? or is it protection from someone who wants to kill you, or are you going hunting...you should really buy the weapon for its purpose. Like, and AR15 wont make a good carry gun but a Keltec p38 would be an excellent choice for personal protection, so small it can fit in your purse or pocket. Welcome to the board. |

Welcome, I'd go with a handgun first. Rifles are nice but everyone needs a handgun. Also, get training in the safe operation of your new gun and shoot it as much as possible to learn the basics. There's more to owning a gun than just going out to buy one. I'd try as many a possible before you pick the one that suits your needs best. What works well for some may not be suitable for you.
What's the reason you suddenly need a gun? Boyfriend trouble? Welcome again and hope you stick around for awhile because this is the best forum on the web. |

You have a great homtown forum on this website. Use it. Go to some of the shoots with a friend, and get some trigger time. Someone from there will show you the ropes. Get aquainted with the safety Rules for handling firearms. I suguest that you go buy a Maveric 12ga shot gun at academy sports for 130$ pluss tax. Get a hack saw , and a tape measure and neatly cut the barrel off at 19 inches. Do it slowly, or get someone to help you. It is the BEST home defence shotgun/first gun I can recomend. Get some bird shot and some No#4 buck shot for it. Take it to the range. And cut loose. This shot gun is robust. You can not hurt it. But it will be dependable to save your life, and at 18 inches it will allow you to use it in a close environment. Pistols are for later. Get used to the shotgun with birdshot, and then get a 22, and then a pistol. And do it for yourself. Not for the idea of it.

I don't like guns. I've alway been against them. Maybe I was wrong though.
I think I want a rifle, but maybe a pistol would be better. I mean easier to use. |
