Walking to the bank today I saw 3 of them.

And every single one of them was screwed with. Some jackass had tried to pry the Mercedes emblem off the back of the trunk and every single one of them was broken leaving just a three pointed star with no ring around it and a screw driver pry mark in the paint.

I can't imagine owning a $40,000+ and having some dickface fuck with it.

You work hard, make money, buy something nice to show for it and some asshole fucks it up.

What the hell do people even do with a stolen mercedes emblem?

Do they put it on their fucking tricycle or Hyundai and try and convince people THEY have a Mercedes?

If I had the money for a car that nice I'd never buy it. Some asshole will just fuck with it.

I hear ya.

I've always looked at cars as something to get me from point A to point B.  Style and comfort usually take a back seat to function, price and reliability for me.

If I had a long commute requiring long hours on the road or in the car I might feel differently but I don't.

This has acualy been a thing I have thought about.
Find a late model Mercadees wrecked.
Repair it to drivable condition, with all windows and interior intact.
Drive it in city traffic like I don't give a flying fuck and just see how fast people take to realize "this guy is nuts and give a fuck" I want the lights intact but body crumpled. I have the warped idea this would be fun.

I traded in my E320 and Range Rover for an S500.  I have to spend time in going to clients, and at times have to travel during rush hours, so I want my time in the car to be comfortable.  Fortunately nobody has fooked with my car yet, a door ding in the rear right door is all.  I live and work at nice areas of the town, a car like mine is dime a dozen and doesn't even get a second look, in Malibu there are far nicer and more expensive cars to drool over.

You may not appreciate the ride in a mid size or full size Mercedes until you got used to riding in one, then have to switch to a loaner or something for a while.  The C class sucks ass, not even as nice as a Honda Accord.

This one is a business lease, so after another 4 years I'll turn it back in for a new one

I've been told high school kids put those emblems on their backpacks to show off to their little buddies. My BIL had F150 emblems pryed off a brand-new truck, and the little dickless wonders broke an F250 badge trying to get one of mine.

Needless to say, I'm very cautious about where I park the porsche. I bet the little faggots would cream themselves to get that emblem. If I ever catch one, I'm taking a thumb for a souvenir.

All cars get their hood ornaments jacked whether it's a 1985 Cadillac or a brand new Benz.

Lots of times, people use the emblems as key chains and/or necklaces. Kind of the poor thiefs bling I guess. These are probably the same who jack antennas to make crack pipes as well.

With that said, I'd love to have a 2001 CLK55 AMG. Beautiful cars in my opinion.

You'd think not ... but two years ago I saw a Honda Civic DX coupe with a Ferrari "horsie" on the front grille where the "H" would normally be.

Then I walked to where I could see the back of the car and the guy had put a Subaru WRX STi wing on the back.    You could tell it was a Civic DX because it still had the Civic DX stickers on the back of the car.

So I guess that was a HondaFerrari-bu?

That's the problem with ANYTHING halfway decent. My parents had a Dodge Dakota and someone pried all the V6 Magnum emblems off.

In 2002, I had the VW emblem stolen of my 1989 Jetta Diesel. Some people are just a waste of oxygen.

Yes, and I have also heard of Launch Control which is not fully enabled in the US market,  SMG trannies that grenade, and timeslips in the US that only dip into the high twelves. The Merc 5spd is capable of 700 ftlbs of torque. The M5 puts out 285 ftlbs of torque rear wheel and only after getting over 5k rpms, less than most Mustangs.

That's pretty much the one german car that I really have no particular interest in owning.

The S500/SL55 cars are nice but when I think of Mercedes they're just kind of bland. Sorta like an Avalon or Buick I guess.

I see crap tons of them around here but for the life of me I don't see how people get passionate about them.

Back to the topic...I once had someone steal the front fender "RX-7" plastic script off my seven year old 1983 RX-7. What on earth were they going to do with that?

Saw this once while going west towards Lexington Ky on I-64. A 240D in cammo(and I mean a good cammo paint motif,in European Woodland, every bit as good as anything the Army had)AND then, the chrome was put back on.

Had an 88 190E,biggest $$$ eating POS I ever had, leaked oil,water,A/C had a mind of it's own. Stalled out all the time, dealer never did fix it,but was only too happy to take my $$$$.

Have also seen Mercedes trucks with the star messed with, except they're made of plastic, and simply break.

The SRT8 is a performance bargain. Great looks, and nice US motor mated to a German driveline. It will not do a 12 second 1/4 though, more like low 13's for 1/3 the price of an M5 or E55.

For the most part , I feel most people buy them for "status" in the states.  To each his own.   Funny thing is these vehicles are used as taxis in other countries.  As long as you buy the upper end class meaning spend at least 50,000.00 USD you get what you pay for.  I like Mercedes but I prefer VOLVO.  Thinking of trading her in for AUDI or BMW.  After seeing Transporter 2, Audi does look promising.

Why you..... I have never heard anyone call the S-Class bland
Lexus copied a lot of the S Class lines, the LS430 and the S430/500 look somewhat similar, with the S500 looking bolder and more fluid.  I have heard of one person said he thought I drove a Lexus though  But what did he know, he drives a Jag

The 2007 S-Class has taken on some CLS design cues, especially in the sweeping roofline and from the B pillar back in looking like a coupe, my next one will be a CLS, the S-Class is very long.

I do have a big yellow ribbon (support the troops) on my car but I think the reason he did it was I saw him steal a traffic ticket from a car and put it on his so he could park illegally in the faculty lot.  I reported him (stealing is a violation of the college's honor code I am I required to report those violations).  The irony is that he could have parked for free 1/2 block away in a student lot (free parking during winter break).  He also apparently didn't know the lot is covered by security cameras (there were lots of break-ins and even a couple of attempted rapes there years ago).

The kid does appear to be a libtard--he drives a libtard car.
