Here's a little exercise that may be fun:

A gang-member goes into a bank alone to rob it. He doesn't care how many people he kills in the process. There are 2 bank guards standing 40 feet apart (one on each side of the bank floor)and both of them are about 20 feet from the bank entrance. Both guards have their Glock 9mm holstered and not paying much attention to their surroundings.

Note: A CHL civilian that is standing in line is armed with a .38/2" snub revolver in his jacket pocket. He is 40 feet from the bank entrance. The civilian possesses average shooting skills. He may or may not engage the robber. What he witnesses in the guard shooting will determine whether he engages or not.

Which choice will give the bank robber a better chance for success in not getting shot and completing his robbery? Please explain the reasoning behind your choice.

A. He enters the bank and immediately fires his M4 14.5" (loaded w/ 30 round mag+ he has 2 spares) with the selector on full-auto in the direction of the two guards.

B. He enters the bank and immediately fires his CAR15 16" (loaded w/ 30 round mag+ he has 2 spares) with the selector on semi-auto in the direction of the two guards.

Well in either case the robber is dead...because he is now deaf. so it will be easy for CHL holder to sneak up and cap his silly ass with the .38...next dumb question

I'll stick my neck out and say that B would be the best choice. Why? Being a totally untrained gang-banger, he probably won't even hit anything initially on full auto, and the continuing recoil will push the gun even further off target. Now this may or may not scare the shit out of the civilian CCWer into ducking for cover/not engage. Hard to say.

Smart way would be fast semi-auto shots, IMHO.

Like, I mean, really!!!

We all know that firing an AR-15 or M4 rifle indoors will knock you on your rear end from the concussion of the blast, so the robber will fire one round and fall over helpless!!!

Like, I mean, really!!!

I don't know about helpless....but I have fired a carbine indoors and it rang my ears for a week.

Sorry, but merely the threat of a weapon is enough. You don't even have to have an actual weapon. If you cause the "victim" of the crime to believe that you are in posession of a weapon, then it is "armed" robbery.

FA is more useful if you are part of a group facing a group. FA is better for area targets and suppressive fire. Other then that, I'd stick with semi (if I had the choice that is

). Aimed semi-automatic fire is the way to go for almost all problems
