SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Investigators said three cylinders found on a Metro bus on Monday evening were explosive devices.

The Hamilton County Hazardous Devices Unit determined that the 4 1/2-inch-long cardboard tubes contained high-grade flash powder and had an internal fuse with an external heat source.

Officials said that if the three had gone off in unison under a passenger's seat, the victim could have suffered severe injuries or even been killed.

The driver found the explosives just after 6 p.m. as she pulled into a layover area along Wexford Avenue.

She called firefighters, and a nearby church was evacuated while the bomb squad removed the explosives.

No one was injured during the incident.

Well, it isn't exactly a cell phone triggered IED, but.... someone could get a serious skin infection.

Big ass firecrackers. I made some bigger than that in high school with flash powder, rammed a hole for them into a snow berm in a parking lot. Blew a very big hole in the berm, we felt the shockwave, my brother said he felt it and it rattled our windows three blocks away. They're closer to dynamite than firecrackers.

What the hell is up with folks in Cinci, anyway? Here lately, everybody's shooting cops and making half-assed bombs. Did I miss the start of the revolution, or what?

Somebody’s trial run. I’ve always wondered if the tactics they use in Israel would eventually hit our shores.

I dont know whether it means four .5" tubes OR 4.5" tubes. This part isn't clear.
But in either case, flash powder ain't no C4. This is some amature juvenile shit... I can't even imagine what the purpose would be, aside from stopping the bus for all of 5 minutes.

So by that description we could be talking ladyfingers, or essentially M-80s. A couple of 5" tubefulls would make a bang... Assuming they were mixed/packed properly. Funny thing is, theres been talk of banning model rocket materials, and this sure fits that agenda.

However, the odd part is that... heat won't set off flash powder AFAIK, I believe you need an open flame. You can leave a pack of ladyfingers on a picnic table in direct sunlight... nada. Unless it was resting on the muffler or something... does not sound to be the case here. External heat source, wtf? hHigh-grade flash powder" my ass.

Seems like a 6th grade prank of fireworks (Legal in Ohio btw) or model rocketry (engines) to create a disturbance, something which seems to have no way of detonation, is being overblown to create a widespread panic via the media. "High-grade flash powder" my ass.

No, flash powder isn't Astrolite, but a 5" x 1" tube filled with it would very efficiently remove you from your ass. It's not pussy stuff.

I'm thinking that some unstable idiot who thank God couldn't get his hands on real explosives.

No. I do NOT ride the Metro. Don't even ask. Public transportation is socialist by its very nature.
