[ARCHIVED THREAD] - I need headphone/mic extension cables...but cheap.

I found a few places that are selling what I need for ~$2, but then have $10 shipping. If anyone has a few (I need 2) laying around, that would be ideal...otherwise, where can I get some cheap?

Also, headphones and mics take the same kind, right?

headphones are usually stereo

mics are usually mono.

If I had cables that were stereo, would they function with a mono mic?

Yes, you would only get mono operation. Obviously. (You only get mono with a mic anyway.)

The only difference is that the top and bottom connections are soldered together with mono, and stereo they are separated.

Radio Shack, buy the parts and make your own, to whatever length you want. Simple.

It may be cheaper to just buy them at the shack though.

Go to Best Buy. I just picked up a 20 ' coiled headphone extension for $10.00. You can't build them for less.
