zero. Im only 20 but have managed to rack up many thousands of dollars in debt. If I did get a credit card, I would probably just max it out and add the bill in with the rest.

One, and for $1000.00 only. At one time, I had one credit card with a $17,500 limit and 7.9 APR. I got into a little trouble with it and vowed never to carry anything higher than $1000.00 for emergency use only. If I don't have the cash, then I won't buy it.
Link Posted: 1/12/2006 8:21:21 PM EDT
Many years ago I had all the gas cards and department store cards, so at one time, I had 16 cards!

Now I have one corporate card and one personal card.

2 but only one gets used. 5.9% (still after 2 years of having this card!) gets used for LOTS of ammo purchases.

3. have all the major types (Visa, AmEx, MC), but mostly use the Visa, the AmEx is for costco, and the MC is the dire emergency one.

ETA: I've NEVER carried a balance.

Link Posted: 1/12/2006 8:53:19 PM EDT
Let’s see….. We have separate cards for the following uses, Home Expenses/repairs, Gas for autos, auto repairs/parts, online purchases, Travel/entertainment, anything else not already listed. That’s 6 different accounts with 2 cards on each (Wife and I). We only use cash if they do not take cc’s. Total combined credit limit, $102,000.00. Average monthly balance, $0.00. Cash back from Discover just about pays for a 2 week vaca. every year.
Having separate acc’s for each use makes keeping track of where money goes, and tax time much easier.

Three ...

One for all my business expenses, makes keeping records much simpler. Gets paid in full every month, and earns miles

One for gas and incidental expenses. Gets paid off every month, earns cash back bonuses.*

And one that I keep for emergencies only. It's got a high enough limit to cover anything that might come up.

*Also know as the "Ammo Fund".

About 5 some need to be canceled, no balance on any of them
Link Posted: 1/12/2006 9:33:22 PM EDT
I used to have 2. Just cancelled one today 'cause I never used it. The only remaining one has a credit limit of $4,500 that I intend NEVER to max out unless it's an absolute emergency. The only reason I have a CC is because it's a convenient form of payment. I refuse to use one if I don't already have the necessary $$ in my bank account to cover it.
Link Posted: 1/12/2006 9:34:53 PM EDT
Two American Excess, one Visa and one Master Card.

This excludes gas cards
Link Posted: 1/12/2006 9:58:58 PM EDT
2

One I don't use for anything.

The other is earmarked for AUG barrels to be bought in the near future.
Link Posted: 1/12/2006 10:05:41 PM EDT
I have one with a $500 limit. It is used for internet buys and for when a CC is needed to reserve something (hotel room, rental car etc.). I think right now it had $3.96 for some stuff my son got on amazon.com that was over the amount of the gift card he got for his birthday.

and it has a balance of.....$0.00

I just paid 2 off this week, and closed them.

1 and that's all I need.

I pay it off in full every month.
Link Posted: 1/12/2006 10:27:58 PM EDT
2, Visa And MC. Need an Amex.
Link Posted: 1/12/2006 10:47:41 PM EDT
4. All with small limits. Which is good, I dont have much money

All cards, as in gas cards, or just Visa, M-card, etc?
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 4:36:15 AM EDT
I had quite a few--major ones then some for department stores...

I now have

a business card to use for government travel
American Express (use for reward program on occasion)
MasterCard (interest-free financing for a year; putting a new bike and some furniture on it)
Discover (don't use anymore)
Visa CheckCard (use a lot)

I'm living by the philosophy that, unless it's a major purchase that might dent my checking account, I will pay in cash. Besides that MasterCard that I have furniture on, I pay my cards off every month.

2 , one for renta cars and hotels for vacations , one for business trips.
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 4:49:23 AM EDT
let's see:
1 corp amex
1 visa that gets used for online purchases
1 Lowes card to get the 0% on big purchases
1 visa that the wife uses for online
1 visa that the wife uses or business expenses
Everything else goes on the debit cards.

Link Posted: 1/13/2006 4:57:42 AM EDT
1 Govt IMPAC card.
1 Govt travel card.
1 personal card with $300 balance that i just put on for my NEC 2005 books.

Link Posted: 1/13/2006 5:00:38 AM EDT
I have only one, and it has NO balance. The feeling associated with that is surpassed only by an orgasm.....maybe.
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 5:04:27 AM EDT
2 Visa
2 MC

Balance zero on all, PIF monthly.

Used mainly for business stuff that gets reimbursed (flights, hotel, meals, etc.).

When used for personal stuff, like GUNS & AMMO, I only buy what I can justify with the paycheck. Considering I'm a highly paid shill for the Bush Whitehouse, that amounts to an aweful lot of guns and ammo!!

Link Posted: 1/13/2006 5:04:27 AM EDT
Several, but some of them are just for business expenses.

There are 4 in my wallet; VISA, Discover (for Sam's) and 2 business supply cards.

My wife has a bunch of store cards because they usually have discounts for purchases at that store.
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 5:07:00 AM EDT
1 mc
1 amex
2 visa

only 'balance' is on the amex and it's the corporate card for work.

One, Conoco, but we aren't using it much since gas is cheaper at the local grocery.

Debit Cards are less likely to get us into trouble.
(Five years after we were married, we were $20,000 in debt to those credit cards. We got a bank loan and paid them all off.)

One for personal and one for biz travel and biz related purchases.

Keeps the accounts seperated so I dont have to keep receipts while traveling for the company. I just turn in the complete statement to accounting.

I have 2 debit cards through different banks. If I can't afford to pay cash for something, then I don't get it...

Keeps me out of trouble.

3. 1 business card, 1 personal card I use for cashback rewards, and 1 'emergency' card with a high limit I don't use.

What kind of credit score do you guys that don't have cards have?
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 5:38:55 AM EDT
2. 1 business. 1 personal.
