Some people own Jeeps just to have a cheap convertable.
Real Jeep owners get it and will wave back. I have an '00 TJ Sport. To non Jeep owners- It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand! Jim |
When I'm traveling down less traveled roads in TX, I wave to most people anyways.
they're far from cheap! I do like my third jeep. |
i only wave back but in IA waving is pretty common no matter what you drive
Always wave. I always did. If the other guy doesn't wave back he's a douche bag.
I wave at all TJ's YJ's CJ's, you have to, it's the Jeep law. I don't wave at Grands, Libertys, there yuppies.
I do most of the time...but only about 40% wave back. They used to much more when I bought it in '97, now there's so many Wranglers down here in Houston some of 'em just don't get it.
HH ETA: It has nothing to do with needing help someday...it's a Jeep thing--but only Wranglers. |
I wave to MJs, CJs, YJs, and TJ's.(real jeeps)
I wave to Cherokee's if they have off road mods, BB, winch, etc.. I do not recognize Liberties as I prefer not to get sued for sexual harrasment by uppidy soccer moms. |
when I had my jeep I'd initiate a wave at other jeeps that any degree of modification.
Unmodded jeeps.....they would have to initiate or they'd be ignored. |
+1 M38A1 CJ-5 CJ-7 and my fav...CJ8 Scrambler |
That sums it up. I bought my 87 wrangler new. After 225000 miles the motor is being rebuilt to speck. Should be done next week. |
I olny wave to the CJ, Yj and TJ owners, no cherekees or liberties
I pretty much wave at anybody in built rigs since I know how much blood sweat and beer go into em.
Sure. But they think its weird when a guy in an International Harvester Scout waves at them.
When off-pavement I wave; however, on the blacktop I generally don't...
I'm not a Jeep owner, but I'd wave for sure. The gal in the new Cherokee might not get it, but the guy in the patched-up muddy CJ knows's what's up.
Same here and I wave at XJs with mods. I also wave if there is a cute girl driving, but that's because I'm a dirty old man. |
Real offroaders wave at each other regardless.... I don't care what rig you drive, we are always appreciative of fellow offroaders. I wave back at nearly anyone that waves at me.... Although, guys with the AM General rigs always have a special bond and secret wave..... |
What about us guys who only drive a Grand Cherokee because we have a five person family? I'd have a Wrangler unlimited but it's not big enough for me to justify the expense right now.
You've got to lose those bumper caps, Tac Jew |
always wave, I miss my '94 YJ
well....ok,I didn't wave to soccer moms and sorority girls in prettied up TJ's, but everyone else |
yes...when I get back from Az this next week... |
I voted yes. Most Jeep owners don't have a clue, but I thought it was kind of cool.
Not a sunny day goes by ( few and far between in Seattle ) that I do not think of and miss my '79 CJ-5.
That rig got me as much tail as any I have ever owned. An absolute Babe magnet. Sold it to the 1st person to look at it / test drive it. My words to the young kid was " your life is about to change" |
I wave to the real jeeps, the Liberty & Cherokee's are stuck up snob's, so they get the bird alot. They just don't understand...It's a Jeep Thing!
By the way I have a '78 CJ-5. No pics of it though. |
I own a Liberty...So I'm a stuck up snob?? That's kind of a jackoff way of thinking, Oh. that's right, I'm a stuck up snob....and to think I wasted post#1000 on this.........

Moron. Did I not just say I'd rather have a wrangler. Some of us have to be practical since we don't have the cash to have three or more cars. There are alot more roomy and luxurious vehicles besides the Grand Cherokee, but I wanted a Jeep so I compromised and got the G. Cherokee.
It's the best off-road in its class.
+1. by the way, i'm a ford man. but i wheel with "Heeps" all the time. 31s and locked with plans for the future..... |
It's in poor taste not to wave back. Whenever I go back to Florida to visit I borrow a Wrangler and immediately I'm "in the club". 95% of Wrangler owners waved and I returned the gesture.
way to be, asshat some of the best damn wheelers i know drive XJ Cherokees and Grands. saying something like that just shows you to be an ignorant fool. |
"Why do you wave to everybody, Uncle?"
"Well, when you go by a local yokel, wave and give them a big shit eating grin. You never know when you'll be stuck on the side of the road and they're the only ones for miles around that might drive by." Works both ways too. |
I'll only wave to Jeeps that have been snazzed up by the owner.
I don't care if it's a mud monster or a pimp-ride, you've put some time, money and effort into it so you get a wave. |
The first thing I thought when I saw the title was:
"Why wouldn't you want your jeep to open when you pulled it out of your pocket?" Then I thought: "How would you get your jeep in your pocket?" Damn, I am a knife geek. |
