Dude, the buddies under the rock are calling you baaack......

Where do you think "gimme a shotgun" started?
Link Posted: 1/11/2006 9:33:56 AM EDT
I guess that's where the term shotgunning (passing smoke from one toker to another) came from.

How did that work? What part did the guy on the chamber end blow on? The lit bowl? Seems like that might singe the lips a bit.

I wonder how the smoke was back then compared to it today, like todays chronic or BC bud, chime in you nam vets who smoked. lol

Full of seeds and dried in the sun. I bet it's nothing compared to hydro grown pot you see around today, probably more like mexican ditch weed.

There was a Dr. Demento song about a GI in Vietnam who ran into "Uncle Ho's Victory Garden" and shared a toke with Charlie.

"We have met the enemy, and heeee's beeeeeen smaaaaashed..."

One night three guys smoked forty seven joints. There was also the "elephant" mode, insert head into armpit of long sleeve shirt, insert pipe into wrist opening, blow on pipe, fill sleeve with smoke, seal off wrist opening. Breathe deeply. $20.00 or a carton of Salems ($5.00) for a kilo, cambodian red, all flowertops. When the seeds popped things got active. But then that's only what I heard. I really don't know anything about it personally.

In the spirit of Arfcomness, I shall ask the only truly important question here: what kind of shotgun is that?

That was Tom Paxton, the song was "Talking Viet Nam Pot Luck Blues"

Talking Viet Nam Pot Luck Blues
by Tom Paxton circa 1967

guitar plays "walking blues" in G

Well, I just got to Viet Nam
I hardly got to see Siagon
Before they lined us up and called the roll
And sent us out on a long patrol.

Swattin' flies . . . tellin' lies.
Firin' the odd shot here and there.

Well the captain called a halt that night
And we had chow by the pale moon light,
A lovely meal they fixed for us
With a taste like a seat on a cross town bus.

Some of the veterans just left theirs in the cans
For the Veit Cong to find . . . deadlier than a land mine.

Well, pretty someone tols a joke
And a couple of fellows began to smoke
I took a whiff as the cloud rolls by
And my nose went up like an infield fly.

The captain was this blond fellow from Yale
He looked at me and said :
"What's the matter with youuuu, baaaaaby?"

I said :"Well I may be crazy but I think NOT
But I swear to God that I smell POT
But who'd have pot in Viet Nam ?"
He said : "What ya think ya been sittin' on ?"

All these funny little plants . . .millions of 'em
GREAT GOD ALMIGHTY . . . pastures of plenty . . .

Well, the time came as it comes to all
That I had to answer nature's call
I was stumbling around in the beautiful haze
When I met a little cat in black PJs.

M16 rifle, ammo belt, BF Goodrich sandals.
He looked at me and said :
"What's the matter with youuuuuuu, baaaaaby?"

He said we benn campin' down the pass,
When we smelled you fellows smokin' grass
and since from the smell you're smokin' trash
We brought you some of the special stash.

Straight from Uncle Ho's Victory Garden
We calls it "Hanoi Gold".

So his squad and my squad settles down
And passed some lovely around.
But all too soon it was time to go
The captain got on the radio and said :

"Hellllllloooooo headquarters . . .
We have met the enemy and he is smashed."
