Question is- what would they think of the general state of the citizenry?

If they were alive they'd be shot and killed in short order during a home invasion by an FBI SWAT team. After the fact, some kiddie porn, a bag of dope and a throw down would be found. Damn good thing we got them off the street, the Sheeple would say.

I'm thinking they would be sorely tempted to bitch slap each and every legislator they could find. They'd probably be disgusted that so many have made such terrible sacrifices for the totally ungrateful citizenry we have today. It'd be great to see Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and the rest kick the shit out of every justice on the supreme court.

The system we have today is not even a pale image of what they established.

I imagine that there would be lots of hangings......treason, sedition, and general purpose (he just needed hangin')!

Gotta wipe away the tears before someone notices.

ETA: I think the Founding Fathers would be appalled. Perhaps I'm a bit skewed since I'm about 1/3 through 1776.

George Washington

If men are to be precluded from offering their sentiments on a matter which may involve the most serious and alarming consequences that can invite the consideration of mankind, reason is of no use; the freedom of speech may be taken away, and dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.

Free speech zones would have been the go signal.

The second amendment begins where the first amendment ends.

½ & ½

And after they got done with the politicians they would start kicking our asses for letting it get so bad in the first place. And we would deserve it too.

Way back in the sixties I remember grandpa saying we needed a few more necktie parties for the politicians. Being only 8 or 9 I didn't get. So mom told me what he meant.

You know, if grandpa was still around I do believe he would be gathering the rope by now.

And by now, I really know what he meant.

It's excellent! I was not aware on just how thin a thread our nation dangled before reading that. I knew it was bad, but.... Wow. My respect for Washington and those who stayed with him to the end was lifted though the roof.

I think they founding fathers would be disgusted by how much politics has turned into being about the politicians themselves, and their agendas, instead of keeping the focus on the country as a whole.

“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.” -Patrick Henry

The government is too big and too involved in every facet of our lives. The founding fathers would have had it otherwise.

I think they would be baffled, disgusted, and disheartened by the sheer size and scope of the federal government. They would be taking group shits on the graves of those responsible for extending the franchise to people who own no property.

You left President Bush out of the group whose ass the FFs would be kicking.
I imagine after a quick history lesson, they would disinter FDR and LBG, and dump the bodies in the Potomac.

They'd march on washington and whoop the collective asses of the politicians who have mislead this nation and ruined the REPUBLIC they founded, then they would kick ours for letting it happen.

One of these days all will be made right again
